Is it possible for someone to manufacture some boards, let's say 10k, it would cost around 3k. What these boards would be used for, would be to clip on to a o3ds for example. And it would become a breakout board because then you just have to solder the four points to a sd and you're ready to go. Would this be possible, and how many people would buy such a tool? Also I might be looking into if I might pay the money to manufacture these guys. If there's anyone out there who might give me some exact measurements, or a pcb board design where the holes line up perfectly, I would be greatful as it would help this project come further. This may take a few months for mass production, or a few weeks. Depending on how long it takes you people to give me the designs/measurements. I will need funding too, just saying.
Helpful :P

UPDATE 1
I have got a PCB designer for gerber, and I've got the manufacturer. Expect these to come soon, after we get £1000 or $1214.80 to build the designs. And after that it will require £1317.20 or $1600 to start sending out products to manufacture and then send em off to you guys. We have not yet decided upon the price of the final product, but rn we are thinking of selling it at $10 or more, but not more than $20 for each, Give me you're opinions, are you going to buy this? And what do you want it to be, just a clip on or something after screwing it into place, or just a board where you solder points under the guidance of the board and the board will link them up to a micro usb?

Someone on reddit was looking at doing a run of these, still working on it as far as I know although his is planned to go a step further and just have it breakout to USB. I'll see if I can dig you a link up later.

Yes it is possible - some mod chips use these. I remember mid chipping an original Xbox with a pogo pin (no-solder) board.
However, for the 3DS scene I suspect that in the quantities in which they would likely be purchased, the production costs of these would most likely mean that they would end up costing more than hard modders charge to solder the connections.

If I could just get some cheap wholesale on 10k micro usb female ports... Hmmm, and the solder them onto the board. It would be a very long procedure, unless anyone can hit me up with a manufacturer who is willing to do that for me. I might just be giving out $10 boards, which contact the board points and break out to 4 points, (like GND,CLKK, you know what I mean.) and from then on you just solder that to a sd card adapter, which you buy from elsewhere. I could get my hands on 10k micro usb female ports, but then you solder them yourself. Just remember, I'm going to have to do this myself. Also I get each board very cheap as I am buying them in a very big quantity (10k give or take depending on how many people are willing to buy these), and they only cost $1.2 for me to buy for each one in a batch of 100, but in a batch of 10k they cost 20-30 cents each. So to save myself ill first sell 100, then increase in increments, until I can get a lot of people willing to buy such a thing. I probs won't ever buy 10k, unless a funding goal of 2k can be reached.

Mine will be heck a lot cheaper, the problem is when I have them, I need to post them worldwide, as you guys are pros in the USA Im in the UK, so I'll have to start small. Prices for 10k are here with 1Oz of copper in each board. https://gyazo.com/3f70baed3994a6b87c2125d583c48e2c
So I might sell them at $10 each until i can get my money back after 170 sales. After that be prepared for $5 boards and you pay shipping. Well I ship them to me. So that kinda sucks, *Imagining like 10 massive boxes in my living room, full of them :P* But if I ship them to resellers, you might be able to get some. Cheapily. Wait, I can't even ship them lol, they will weigh 32kg in total, so kek

It will be so cool if you get it worldwide! I recently moved to Germany so I was afraid that this would only be be avialiable in the US. I'm intrested to see where this will go.

Also, I can't really do this unless some good hardmodders will give me some gerber files. If anyone wants to contribute it may take a month or two to do this after I receive like enough money to get each kind of 3ds/2ds (Not colours) motherboard/ handheld console to get in touch with a pcbs designer to help me put them into perspective on gerber, and link them to a 4 point breakout board, as I don't have a good enough manufacturer yet to be bothered to solder on 10k micro usb female ports to the breakout board, or just have them on the board.

That would only work for Old 3DS XL since it's the only one that has ALL the needed pads accessible as soon as you remove the back cover.
For all the rest, you'll have to either remove the board completely to access the pads on the other side of the board (2DS, N3DS and XL)
and that would require you to have the console fully dissassembled but still working, while keeping the breaboard(s) stuck to the board

Or to unsolder the SLOT-1 to access CLK pad or flip the MB over to access the ALT one(O3DS).

And you have to think about the ground also. It's never that close to the pads that you can have a small breadboard.

With that work to be done and taken in consideration, it will always be easier either do it yourself or just send it to someone experienced.

I know about that, that's why for each model, 3DS, 2DS, etc.. There will be different layouts, and to install it it would cover a wide expanse of the main board making it able to connect to all access points, it will have each contact at different levels allowing it to contact each point.

I have mixed feelings about a user that makes a post showing a clear misunderstanding of how entrypoints work - claiming they are a 'newb' as well, and then the same user makes a post asking for money to produce hardmod tools/boards.

It's a interesting idea, but I'd rather have someone more experienced handle it.

Well first of all, I am new to the 3ds scene, but I am very experienced in electronics, I studied it in A-Levels and then in Uni. Just because i didn't know about the software side of the 3ds doesn't mean I know nothing of its hardware. Don't forget I have got an engineer ready to undertake any testing/building of the board. And a Manufacturer to mass produce it.

Well, you have more experience than I do in electronics that's for sure - I have a problem with coming off as rude in my replies don't I? I'm sure you can see why I'd raise an eyebrow at someone new to the scene asking to do something on such large scale involving a fairly large sum of money. Obviously, there is a correlation between software and hardware but I guess to a certain degree you don't need software knowledge to solder, build, or manufacture.

I know what you mean, to start off with I won't be needing funding until a complete proto is made, meaning you won't be wasting your money on nothing, and I will showcase it on kickstarter. I have a 3ds xl of my own for now and will design a proto version of what I'm building for that. So for now going offline until the proto is complete :D When that is done, kick starter will begin and if possible I'll need to contact a youtuber to showcase it in their vids to grow the popularity of the product, so when its released I can finish off my stock as fast as I can, because who want 10,000 pcbs boards in their house, and they all weigh 32kg in total.

This really seems like a cool idea, unfortunately personally I'd have exactly zero use for this myself, however if you can in fact get them manufactured cheaply enough, I could certainly see use for this. I had to vote no for this for myself, but I wish you the best of luck getting some interest together for this.

I think it's a really awesome idea. The only thing about it is with these types of projects that ask for crowd funding (even with kickstarter) rarely see a release, if any, after meeting the monetary goal. Or if they do actually start production, the product becomes inferior when produced in bulk and the experience is NOTHING compared to the prototype (Katsukity anyone?). Or what about the guy that developed the automatic robot for WT that was released, then pulled and now he's "working" on getting them "out there" over 6 months after funding was completed on numerous sites. Don't get me wrong, I realize stuff like this takes time, equipment and money to produce but way too many crowd fund for themselves and could care less about the consumers interested in a final quality product. So my advice is if you do, don't be one of those guys.

I actually understand what you mean, I am not trying to benefit myself by not releasing the product, yet. I focus on high quality, so that's why I stated, until a fully fledged working prototype is made, no crowdfunding will be needed.
