I have al9h on my old 3ds and now want to install it on my new 3ds using otp-less method. I'm just wondering what are the odds for success because I really don't want to brick because I won't be able to get one for a while. Also if I did install al9h Should I keep and emunand and if so why not. Sorry for ask a lot.

I sat on the fence for ages. It's laughably easy to do on a New 3DS. I did my old XL today, and it took me an hour and a half. Is it worth it? Hell yes. Everything on sysnand. No chance of future bricks.

I only needed a few pieces of software too. Check my recent posts to see the thread I detailed everything in.

Basically. Just do it :)

I say do it. I've kept myself from installing A9LH on my N3DS for quite some time, even after doing on other consoles through the available method at the time.

Now with the OTP-less method it has gotten ridiculous to not jump onto it if you have a N3DS. I'd swap MenuHax for A9LH again without even thinking once. :D

same here. didnt want to go though that long setup and risk of downgrading.
Thent he otp less came out, grab it before they said it was unsafe. And bam al9h in a few mins.
I kept my emunand because all my games where already installed to it.

You can transfer the emunand contents over to sysnand easily. Only adds up 20~30 min extra to get it done and free up another GB or so on your SD card. I did that and I had no loss of any kind of data.

After about an hour or so I had my 9.2 Sysnand MenuHax N3DS 11.0 Emunand with A9LH and 11.1 Sysnand and kept everything as it was.

Yeah, a9lh is nice though I haven't gotten rid of my emunand yet despite the fact that I haven't used it in ages (in fact, the emunand is still on 10.3 since I originally kept it for NTR back when BootNTR wasn't being updated). While I could get rid of it doing so would mean having to spend a few hours to back up around 70GB of data from the SD card and then restoring it and I am lazy.

THAT takes a while... Makes sense with such a large card that you wouldn't want to bother wasting that much time just to retrieve just over 1GB of space lol.

So you guys sure it safe?( sorry I really not in the mood for bricking)

Well... There's ALWAYS the possibility of a brick. Nothing is for certain. Though, if you follow the steps carefully and with patience you should come out good.

These numbers should help. Though the 3rd vote option is... lol. Even though it should give you a rough idea how safe it is.

EDIT: I've been reading through and it seems that the bricks were human errors. Quite a few users have done the OTPless method over multiple consoles too.

So I'm up to part 3 of the al9h guide everyone uses and it says to download aeskeydb.bin and datainput_v3.zip but it only provides in torrent . Any way to not get them that way?

But i don't see why that a problem. Even the guide has a link for a Torrent Client.

utorrent is good. I personally use it all the time.

EDIT: Is it just me or GBATemp is slow as hell today? It takes 10~15 seconds to post a reply.
