Hi all

just trying to do something with my sons WiiU. Its on 5.3.2 and i've been reading the "Definitive Guide to Wii U Hacking"
https://gbatemp.net/threads/the-definitive-guide-to-wii-u-hacking.396828/" guide..

But i'm a bit puzzled. I connect the Wii U to the local URL, and it then redirects to a payload532.html...but then nothing. Just the white background on the browser.

So I then tried Kafluke's Self Hosting AIO guide and copied up those files to the SD card and the www root, and now when I connect the WiiU using the browser I see his small menu.

But...The same thing happens when I select anything I get redirected to a payload532.html and then it sits there doing nothing.

Did I need to exploit the Wii U first using a disc media? Did I miss something stupid?

You are following a vwii guide to hack your wii u mode. https://gbatemp.net/threads/the-definitive-guide-to-wii-u-hacking.396828/ is a good guide.
The guide you choose hacks your vwii to play wii and gamecube games. Not wii u

Like @iAqua said. Update to 5.5.1 and use that part of the self host menu. The 5.3.2 payloads are finicky. Also you may have some Antivirus program that is deleting the 5.3.2 payloads.

If you don't want to update and you're having struggles self hosting just try the 5.3.2 links on this site (visit using your wii u)

Agree with updating ... I only just updated, and it used to take about 5-10 tries to get HBL up, with each try leaving it frozen for 10 minutes in case it decided to come around. Plus you had to visit two exploit pages, and the first had a chance at failing too.

Now on 5.5.1 HBL opens up within two seconds of visiting the exploit page, every time!

5.5.1 is a much better firmware for exploits. I thought the definitive wii u thread said to update?

No. In fact it specifically says to stay on 5.3.2 if that's what i'm running.

I see no reason why the 5.3.2 wont run the payload. I have no AV running (as it DID block the download originally). Surely this should work on 5.3.2 also?

If I have to update, whats the safest way to get onto 5.5.2 without opening up my Wii to the web and removing all the blocks/dns?

5.5.1 is the latest firmware so you can just update normally. But turn TubeHax back on afterwards.

I've used 5.3.2 exploits in the past, and they work 1 of every 50 times you try.
Perhaps you just haven't tried enough times.

PS: It will drive you crazy and you will kill yourself. I sincerely haven't tried exploits anymore and not in new FW, but I got annoyed as fuck with 5.3.2 and sent it straight to hell, updated even before there were new exploits to use the console normally and really tried to forget about all of it. Still suffering the PTSD.

Cheers all. I've updated to 5.5.1 now...

Now I get either CGI failure or The resource you are looking for has been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.
:/

When I run http://loadiine.ovh/kafluke it works, to a certain extent. When I click on (for example) homebrew launch, I get FSGetMountSource failed.

I'll copy over the extra files I want and try the game load option.

Any ideas whats up with my hosted page? I have NO AV running...

Do you have all the right files? Download links at https://gbatemp.net/threads/loadiine-gx2.413823/ and launch from http://loadiine.ovh/
If that works and self hosting doesn't, then you've isolated the problem at least

So I re-downloaded the latest nightly. I've scraped off my local hosting as it seems to be randomly broken. The http://loadiine.ovh link works okay and I can launch loadiine! Excellent.

I can see a game item there that is on the SD card. Try to launch it...black screen. Had to hard reset. Tried it twice, same thing. Soo close.... aargh. Appreciate all the advice. Any ideas whats up this time?

What game are you trying to load as not all games work with Loadiine yet. Also please post your sd card structure so we can see if something is wrong with that.

Here is the basic structure. I've chopped out some of the longer folder contents including the game ones, but you get the idea.

Volume in drive F has no label.
Volume Serial Number is x
