I fully completed this guide (after the full guide for installing arm9loaderhax and Luma3DS)
https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/Region-Changing

-OLD 3DS LL Japanese
-Converted to English using old 3ds English ctrtransfer
-Created and linked an English NNID

I noticed that in addition to this guide, games were still partially recognized as Japanese until I re-clicked English as the language in the 3DS settings.

When I try to enter the eshop, I confirm the disclaimer thing, then the bag guy and the circular loading starts working, then I get error 007-2001

When I try to update a game (majoras mask) I click wireless option, confirm & sign in using NNID, see loading bar appear then it reverts to home and the error 005-5958 appears.
- I have a locales file for the game to register as English (its an English cartridge as well) but that don't help

Please help!

Hey Wooly
I have more or less the same problem with my US o3ds converted with plailect's guide to E(uropean, not english (: )

I found this threat that seems to handle it.
I haven't tried it yet, though

Method 1 https://gbatemp.net/threads/eshop-not-working-on-10-30-emunand.410376/

1. Backup EmuNAND < emuNANDTool_1.0.3 does not work for me. It says there is no NAND detected on SD card?
2. Backup 3DS folder
3. Formatted EmuNAND via system settings < What does this mean?
4. Re-config EmuNAND first start and connect to E-shop without NNID
5. Configure NNID (if when finishing setting up NNID the version of your emuNAND doesn't have the RX-E or Rei logos, then your NANDs are linked in some way, format first your SysNAND and reconfigure your HomeBrew access
6. hax and re-format EmuNAND)
7. Restore EmuNAND and restore Nintendo 3DS folder.

Method 2 https://gbatemp.net/threads/3ds-region-change-tutorial-easy-way.386207/

A. BEFORE DOING ALL THIS, PLEASE FORMAT THE SYSTEM MEMORY INSIDE THE EMUNAND BEFORE UPDATING < what does this mean?

B. you need
- 2 SD Cards
- 3rd SD Card, with another region, formatted and updated to 9.6, AND has an NNID Japan-like to work with rxtools. (what?)
- And a 4.1-4.5 SysNAND. (I don't have this, see below)

Step 1: Format EmuNAND with Gateway on the 2 SD Cards. Use the 1st SD Card via steps 2-6. (already lost me)
Step 2: Boot Gateway Mode. Go to System Settings, and go to the 4th page to lead to "Format System"
Step 3: Accept the format. After formatting, it'll kick you back to SysNAND.
Step 4: Now launch Gateway, launch EmuNAND and apply the 9.9 update. It'll kick you back to SysNAND.
Stpe 5: Test the EmuNAND again with Gateway. It'll say that you have new features. Then turn off the console.
Step 6: Turn off the 3DS, eject it, and use EmuNAND tool to Extract the the EmuNAND.
Step 7: Use the 2nd SD Card to inject the extracted EmuNAND. Close off EmuNAND tool after done, and eject the SD Card.
Step 8: With the 1st SD Card, set up an NNID. BUT DON'T SET IT UP ON THE 2ND SD CARD.
Step 9: After setting it up, launch the eShop. Set it up as usual. While on the main page, press HOME and close it off. Turn off the 3DS.
Step 10: Use the 2nd SD Card you didn't set up an Nintendo Network ID with, and launch eShop. It'll say an error message. When you see the error message, TURN OFF the 3DS. This is very important.
Step 11: Now use the 3rd SD Card with another region. Launch the eShop. Aw, it worked! Great job!

Anybody have a more 'noobish' step-by-step tutorial for this?

The 3DS I'm trying to access e-shop on has completed all the Plailect tutorials so that is my starting point. Everything is good on it, I'm running English games, the system detects multi-region games as English, but I just cant access the eShop for any reason.

Will this work?

1. Prepare 3 SD cards with emuNAND:
  • Card A has (original) emuNAND and a (original) NNID.
  • Card B has (original) emuNAND and no NNID
  • Card C has (new) emuNAND and a (new) NNID
Original = Japanese
New = English

2. Insert card A and open the eShop. (Log in or create an NNID if you haven't yet)
3. Exit emuNAND and switch to card B
4. Open the eShop on card B. It will fail with an error message.
5. Switch your 3DS off
6. Insert card C and it should work fine

The only thing I don't understand is how to "exit emuNAND"?

nope, I try to login to the store with Japanese formatted SD card with Japanese NNID and I get the same error when I access the eShop as I do with the English formatted SD card with English NNID.

I notice I can pull up my NNID even without the SD card in, so the NNID is installed on the 3DS, not the SD card. This process seems to be from when the NNID was installed on the SD card only?

Alternatively I have an English 3DS, I could hack that one. (I hacked my JP one because it was already at 9.2) My English 3DS is 11.1. Is there anyway to downgrade my English one to hack it without soldering?

Its just annoying because this Japanese one is almost working as English. it just wont access the damn estore.

Have the same eShop error (007-2001) on region changed 'old' 3DS.
Wanted to ask about solution... Looks like I won't bother with it. As freeShop downloads everything.

By the way when I close Notifications my region changed EmuNAND 3DS stuck on screen with "Home Menu" written on it. Your's one OK?

@Wooly, I'm surprised that you can use your 3ds without a SD card. I read, I don't remember where, that you can't use a hacked 3ds without a SD card.
Mine switches off when I do that. Again I don't remember where, this functionality was documented in some changelog. You sure your hack went OK?
Mine has 2 problems
* 005-5958 when I go to the eshop and
* (@finn_91) I get stuck after leaving Notifications.

That said still haven't tested any of the suggestions. I hope I will have some time this w.e.

What is freeShop?
I just want to be able to download game updates and connect to the internet. DLC I can probably live without, or find the .cia for it.
If i need to download a paid thing, well I have non-hacked 3ds for that.

@enjoliveur
I can't boot without the SD card in, but I took the SD card out while on the home screen and opened up the NNID without any errors, so it seems like the data is saved on the 3DS not the SD.

I also get stuck after leaving notifications. I had never went to notifications so I didn't notice. This is really NBD since you can just reboot.

I've downloaded all games I wanted with updates and DLC. There's not all games but I think that will be sufficient.

Yeah, NBD at all. I just wanted to be clear is this mine issue only or not.

The latest A9LH builds have SD-less boot, so that's why.

Well... I played along some workarounds.
Found this tutorial. Someone might try it but definitely not me. I'm kinda sick about this right now.
http://gbatemp.net/threads/working-e-shop-on-region-changed-emunand-o3ds-2ds.424009/

BTW I tried a few methods.
Tried with/without NNID's.
Tried to do something like that above, even got the same error (011-3136). But after that I started from the beginning.
Also deleted eShop data. Doesn't work. However I got different error (005-5602). Looks like some kind of "progress", isn't it? :D
About tutorial. Latest versions of Decrypt9WIP does not have options for dump/inject nnidsave.bin. At least I haven't found them. Version from 9 of March have though.

Yeah, and concerning stuck on written "Home Menu", just reset EmuNAND (if you changed region of EmuNAND, obvious) to default. Use TinyFormat instead of System Settings. Install as *.cia onto EmuNAND and launch from here. It would be prudent to backup all saves.
Do not launch TinyFormat from Homebrew Launcher. It will reset your SysNAND.

And here's some interesting info written:
http://gbatemp.net/threads/e-shop-error-after-region-changed-emunand.440103/
I really think that theory is the unbearable truth. Would be happy to be wrong.

@finn_99, I only the other hand am still interested.
I need to buy fieldrunners to hax other 3ds.

I more or less did what Plailect describes in his region changing guide.
I went back to U-NAND: deleted my eshop account, from within the eshop
It the System Settings/Data management I deleted everything related to th e eshop: Software, Extra data, everything
I installed TinyFormat and thoroughly reset the console.
The eshop was still perfectly available. Not my account but it still remembered I once (in my youth) downloaded an episode from the Dinosaure Office :O.

Then I reconfigured for the E-NAND.
Deleted even more data in the System Settings/Data management (I don''t know how but there still was some extra data)
I made sure there was no nnid linked and went to the eshop and
well you guess it: 005-5958.

I have consequently had the same error code
I wasn't as lucky as you to have progressed (not sure that's the right word) to another error code

As for your ideas.
The first one @harryen's post.
I don't have a EMUNAND anymore. Maybe I should reinstall a backup?
I will consider
Then when @The Real Jdbye get's involved, it describes exactly what plailect does in his guide. I've tried that a few hundred times ...

The other post, by @MiseryXYZ looks indeed interesting. @Clector seems to understand. I wonder if Miserygot somewhere.

I do not know. I wrote everything I could.
However I'll point one thing. Plailect's guide about region changing arm9loaderhax CFW SysNAND. It doesn't mention EmuNAND at all.
This process will unlink your NNID from the system, since it will no longer be compatible with it.

So I guess issue is in still linked SysNAND.

If you tried what you did in SysNAND I have ablosutely no ideas why it didn't worked.
