Hi, So my friend got a N3DS galaxy edition and updated it to the latest firmware. Is there anyway I could help him get homebrew if I have an N3DS with A9LH?

My bad, sorry. So I would have to change my region? Is it difficult?

Also, with the dsi downgrade would my console still have all the games I downloaded from the freeshop? And what if I don't have a NNID on my system? Would I just create one?

I don't know enough about region changing to say whether it can be done safely (or at all) with dsiwarehax.

Freeshop games, I'm not sure so you may want to backup any saves you care about.

And yes if you don't have a NNID you'd make one. Bear in mind it will be tied to the 3DS you transfer to (until it's transferred to another 3DS or removed after calling and requesting a removal from nintendo), so make a NNID your friend will be ok with.

You can make the DSiWare transfer alright even without NNID.

Also, you can unlink it with simply formatting the System, no need to call Nintendo for the unlinking.

Thanks for the replies! I think the only thing that's holding me back from doing it is whether my system will brick from the region change ( haven't update a9lh for awhile now) and if my freeshop games will be effected.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

You can region swap and then download the dsi game on that region then transfer it. I've only had success with the o3ds doing it this way. You can also use Legends of Exidia and use some ntr commands with modified cardboard to force it through and then open it in region free to get it to work. I was able to downgrade Japanese systems on 11.x with this method

Why?

Because they are not available in Australia and I really want one  And a US import will cost about $450 total (brand new consoles are only about $230 here). And even if I imported one then I'd swap the plates with a blue so as not to complicate the system transfer, and end up with a US model that no one local is going to want to buy off me (I could a9lh it, pretend it's an Australian model and hope that whoever buys it isn't going to want to system transfer or do download play, but that feels wrong).

I will probably just wait until they've been around long enough that I can buy the housing kit from ebay. But there's still a flicker of hope that one day someone might want to trade the front and back plates for blue ones + money...

I don't understand, why you want something like that? It's looks like bad decal job on the device.
For my opinion, this is the worst looking N3DS XL i ever seen.
In the US they wish they could get the metallic Blue n3DSXL (NA),but for some reason it's only available in jp and eu,and in the middle east(NA region console but not available in the US).

Region swap breaks eShop on the N3DS.

Have you actually seen the galaxy version, or just pics? Because in person it does not look like a bad decal job
