Hacking old gateway user

hi i had gateway but i sold it now i have 3ds with 4.2fw and want to know which cfw install and how much sd card will be enough for 3ds i already have 8gigs and also should i format 3ds using built in format in settings before setting up cfw? or will that mess up some procedure thanks in advance

Yes format it to fat32.
