GCN Gamecube Burned discs lifespan

I just managed to get Super Mario Sunshine running on my GC off a backup Verbatim disc

Now Im kinda paranoid that my disc laser will die before my SD Adapter even makes it from ebay

You'll be able to play on it for a long time before it needs a POT tweak.
All lasers will eventually burn out, there's no way around it.

Could be years, could be months.
Could also be that as soon as you dump in a retail game that the laser decides to kick the bucket.

Don't worry about it to much tho.
Mine has had a lot of use (retail discs and later on backups thanks to the XenoGC) and it still plays games.
It just slowly degrades over time, POT tweaking it a TINY bit already solves much of the issues.
