Hacking 360 LT+3.0 and required update

I'm pretty sure that this question must've been asked a lot of times before, but given the age of the console, I'd like to have a more updated opinion.

I bought an Arcade Xbox 360 with LT+3.0 (MFR Date 2008-10-22). Burned UMvC3 and everything went OK. Burned GTAV and the game asked for the console to be updated.

I didn't (yet), so I'd like to know. What should I do?
Should I send it to someone to RGH it (or something like that)? or should I update anyways? or the LT3.0 must be updated before?

doesn't matter, update via internet or disc... Yep after the update you will still have Lt 3.0

What determins if the update flashes the drive or not?

I ask this because I remember having to reflash my old Xbox for a while for a certain time...

Dash 13147 was the dash that flashed the DVD drives to a new firmware.
There hasn't been a dash that updates the DVD drive after that, not will there be one anymore as MS is slowly but surely dropping support for the 360.
