How long has the Homebrew Browser been down??? I just got back to play Wii last month since I haven't played it for 2 and a half years, so...... Does anyone know how long has it been down?? It's been like a month or so but I don't know...... I checked it everyday to see if the servers got back up and running but nope,it's still down...... I'm hoping it's not my internet connection because everybody else has the same problem besides me......

The Homebrew Browser server is down, so here's a workaround to access it: Hold 1 on the Wiimote while booting and go to settings, then enable secondary server/whatever it says. Bam. Fixed.

The HBB seems to be abandoned because alot of apps are out of date and almost all the links on www2.codemii.com are 404's and some of the repo's don't even work anymore. Good app though. It's been my source for most of my HBC games.

I did hold down the Button 1 on the Wii Remote while booting up HBB but gives me errors like this:

Requesting Homebrew List...... Using Homebrew List on file.
Homebrew List file can't be found.

I'm using the latest version of HBB and yet cannot access it no matter what until the servers are back up.

Yeah, it was a good app since some apps can only be downloaded through the HBB. Will it be back up once a new version is out or what!?

What apps are only available there? There should at least be links to them on WiiBrew if their code isn't still on Google Code or Github.

Actually, not fixed.

What I think you meant to say was hold down the 2 button, as the 1 button puts it on offline mode.

But even now, it looks they shut down that server too, which is probably a sign that they ain't coming back up. They probably assumed that no one used the service anyone, or so little and that their just wasting money having it open.

I don't think their updating their servers, and if they are, its probably to say goodbye.

At this point, downloading from USB and SD cards is the only way to use software

I would also like to add that all software from the channel should be coming on the internet, as I heard people downloaded all software from the backup so it could be downloaded from places like wiibrew
Worked for me a few weeks ago, odd. Oh well, R.I.P.

I hadee heard that the domain expired due to non-payment, so their are two options.

1. The owner rebuys the domain and everything is good

2. Someone else buys the domain, and everything should work the way it is

3. It stays down forever, making the browser useless

A lot of people on Wii Chatter are asking about HBB not working and it seems that actually a lot of people use it. It would be nice to have a WiiBrew repo though. It has much more useful apps like DOP-Mii that the codemii server doesn't have (and everything is up-to-date).

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way
