I hope the .cia gets dump but I think the ps2 one will be awesome
First it's going to get dumped, so don't worry your little head. Second, the PS2 version was awesome.

I honestly can't wait for this game! The 3DS needs more RPG's, it has a lot of them, but I could always go for more for of them! Plus I can finally start buying games again, so I know I am buying this one!

no offense but imo all those dragon quests are utter garbage. Because when you attack it looks first person there is NO visual representation whatsoever of your attacks or characters. Atleast in the later ones they switch to character view when a attack is pressed. Not epic otherwise.

you mustve hated pokemon games pre 3ds.

Actually there you SEE your own pokemon. In the early DQ you just see the enemy thats all. Im suprised you see even that xD

ya but its just a picture, they dont move in the old ones. Pokemon is pretty much DQ except it has a picture of your guy.
If having a picture of your character is make or break then youre missing out on a lot.

They do move somewhat. well they vibrate if they get hit or do a certain move sometimes. xD it's a big difference as to NOTHING. lol.
And yes that kind of is a deal breaker for me, It doesn't excite me i cannot use my imagination to bond with the game. it's just not fun.
Even pokemon is kinda well.. old school nowadays. but yeah.. id play that over "such" games anytime. i see these games with "invisible" charachters and i just dont understand what developers are thinking. I mean older games OK but i see it also in newer games. Who actually likes this not to see their charachters... Youll think it's just all from one charachter XD

Actually from DQ V onwards you have atack animations, and from VI onwards you also have monster animations.
The remakes have both, in most cases.
But I can see your point.

So if I get this right the "right' DQ will be, VII, VIII on 3ds and IX on DS or did I miss any?
V and VI doesn't?
+ the upcoming XI...

Actually, you have a DQ remake for Iphone/Android, GBC and SNES all of them have attack animations but lack monster animations. Recommended since it’s a short game.

You have a DQ 2 remake for all of the above platforms above, again only attack for all of them, the magics are just a flashing effect btw. Not so recommended.

You have a DQ 3 also for all the plats above, “full” animations in all of them; the monsters are animated only during attack though. The three first games are a trilogy, The Iphone/Android remakes are recommended, the GBC not so much, the snes ones were released only on Japan, but you can find some unofficial translations around.

DQ IV, remakes for android/ios, DS and PSX (Japanese only) full animations. Highly recommended.

DQ V, remakes for android/ios, DS and PS2 (Japanese only) full animations, also highly recommended.

DQ VI, android/IOS and DS, full animations (even in the snes original, Japanese only) recommended, those three form sort of a trilogy also.

DQ VII and VIII, the upcoming DS remake/port, DQ VIII had a port for android/ios.

DQ IX DS only.

I also had the same reservations for DQ that you have now, but I gave the IV ds remake a chance and I can say that, in a story and narrative department DQ is miles ahead of FF, and since then I started to enjoy both. If you like a good story and can play DS, or Iphone/Android games give IV a chance, I believe you won’t be desapointed.

So yeah. lik i thought. those are not gonna make the cut for me. No matter how good the rest is.. i have some standards. I only will play the best of the best and the best of a "series'
Except if they are all godlike :D if u follow me.

Im very hyped!! Does anyone know another dragon quest game that is English and have similiar graphics (most importantly battle animations)
I don't like 2D dragon quest shit.

DQ5 PS2 fan translation is completely in 3D and the best Dragon Quest game ever made in my opinion.
