I've currently got an O3DSXL and a N3DSXL both on 9.2. Which is preferable to install A9LH on? I'd prefer to just install it on 1 device for now and see how I get on. (fwiw O3DSXL is hard modded)

I just did my N3DS, process took about 6 hours, but was worth it :D It wasn't too hard and I don't think it would be much different at all for the O3DS, there's just a few N3DS specific settings and I think only the downgrade files were different. If it were me, I'd put the better one on the A9LH, but then again one could argue "why risk the better one".

I recommend New 3ds since it has better performance, and also Snes virtual console games. As well as inproving some games and some exclusive like Xenoblade chronicles. Some home brew may benefit from it but i doubt it.

If it is your first time, you could do it on the old 3ds so if you make mistake of course if you follow directions you may not. You won't ruin your more expensive system :)

At least is what i did. :P

Well i am sure there is but freeshop installs games the sameway the officla Eshop does. The way you described has a possible flaw since in order to install cia files you need enough storage for example, 2GB for the cia file and 2GB to install. total of 4GB needed. While free shop doesn't need at least 4 GB to install since is done all from the internet it can use just what is required to install. :)

Very true, that is definitely a bonus; It's a bit slower but at least it's an all in one. Is it okay to talk about the whole TitleKeysUpdater CIA here?

6 hours? i think you took a little long, the process shouldnt take more than 3 hours, prefferably 2 hours.

There is a thread for that already, if you need help with that (which i am not sure why since it does only one thing) You can post there. :)

I wish. I started at 5:45PM and wasn't done until 12:20AM, and I was actively completing it one step after the next.

It did take me 30 minutes of trying to load emunand9 before I realized I had a partial downgrade. Even after that, I was having shitty boot luck in the Homebrew with all those apps. They would each take like 10 tries before they booted -_-

Also, all the nand backups it had me do took forever as well. Both generating them and copying them off the SD card.

It was lengthy :(

I more so had questions about it's magical list and where it comes from/how it's added to and how frequently it's updated. I'll try to find the thread :D (I'm sure it's obvious but I am oblivious.)

Don't worry about it, the process isn't 100% accurate or flawless, boot rate for some homebrew is very off so just be glad you succeed :)

The data is compiled from people who submit their own systems title key data. When you buy a game from nintendo eshop, the data i stored inside a Encrypted file that the freeshop uses to find the same kind of thing on the app. You buy game, get the enctitlekey then submitit (Anonymously) Then is compiled to the master list and used in freeshop. From what i understand. If you decide to share it that is up to you. For the most part, is a team effort of contributions to piracy so keep that in mind. You can also use it to just get games you legal obtained and don't wanna pay more since all downloads are linked to the system and not your nnid unlike playstation where all downloads purchased are linked to account psn id and can be used if your system fails to boot and need replace system :)

I am assuming discussion of that is no longer possible probably by moderator decision so i guess is best not to ask here anymore or look somewhere else. This probably gonna be removed from view i would think.

That is news to me if i didn't know that before.

Just wanna know if this would work, wanna do fieldrunners exploit with my cousin on his old 3ds. I have mine and it's linked to my Nnid and his is linked to his and he has money. I was wondering if I created an emunand and then formatted (so it unlinked my NDID and BTW I'm also on a9lh). Then after that if he formats his system and finally I log into his Nnid on my emunand. So then I can purchase fieldrunners on my emuNAND with his money to use for the exploit. Possible? Thanks! :D
Anyone?

No. Won't work. I mean its good to system format, but all it does is logs you out of that system. It does not unlink your NNID from that system. You can try it though.

Oh then is there anyway that he can buy it for me, like can you think of a method? My goal is for him to use HIS money that's already on HIS eshop account to get ME fieldrunners to do the downgrade for his console

Call Nintendo so that they unlink the NNID from his console.
Alright can ya gimmie steps, and will he be able to get it back on his console afterwards?

would this work? transfer his sysnand to a newly created unlinked emunand on my console. Then buy fieldrunner haxx it up. then transfer back 7 days later and continue with the guide?

So.. I've been hesitant about switching to cfw but I guess it's time since I want gba support and DSTT/Blue gateway support, how can I go from Old3ds 8.1 Sysand and latest Gateway Emunand unlinked to Luma3ds? Please don't just link that one guide since it doesn't have any support for people that already have gateway and gateway emunand, and will doing all this get rid off all my existing CIAs and their saves and my NNID? What's the brick possibility? I'd like a nice step to step guide if possible.

Will doing this allow me to boot into emunand/gateway etc without having to use the browser exploit? Hate having to be tied to it to be able to access some of my stuff..

Use the A9LH guide. No one else is going to write a step-by-step guide for people too arrogant to follow it. Start by updating to 9.2 and then following the rest.

It's got nothing to do with arrogance, the guide simple has no support for those already with exploits/gateway/emuand running, it appears to be designed for fresh users.

Go over part 1 to make sure you can access homebrew. Make backups. Then start at the end of the RedNAND part.

You could have worked this out by reading any of the 500 questions asking this same thing and getting this answer, or simply by reading the guide, understanding what it's doing, and working it out for yourself.

Fair enough, but like I said it doesn't exactly fully support ones already with exploits, would just be better to wipe everything, emunand, cias etc and just start from the beginning to ensure everything is OK and I can just follow it from the start? I wouldn't be necessarily happy to do so but if it works out best it might just be a necessity, how would I go about doing so? Just wiping my SD?

If it's better to start from the beginning since it's clear that's what it's designed for, I'll just have to do so.

From the get started page:
The following applies to all devices:

9.0.0 - 9.2.0 (with an existing CFW): change menuhax to type 1, set your menuhax trigger to D-Pad down, then start the guide at Part 4. Note that anywhere "RedNAND" is mentioned, you can pretend it says "EmuNAND" instead as they are very similar and the instructions will be the same other than that.

<9.0.0: Follow the instructions on the "9.2.0 Update" page to update directly to 9.2.0.

9.0.0 - 9.2.0: Start on "Part 1 - Homebrew" then skip most of "Part 2 - 9.2.0 Downgrade" (more info on that page).
(9.0.0 and 9.1.0 are virtually identical to 9.2.0)

9.3.0 - 10.7.0: Start on "Part 1 - Homebrew" and follow all instructions.

11.0.0: You must downgrade your firmware
