ds lite since the screen isnt streched and there are no black bars if played in original resolution.
but ds lite screens get these weird scratches on them on the bottom screen and it looks bad and makes it hard to see.
The only use I have for mine is to use my terrible original R4 Clone

It's probably from the top screen. Nintendo has had an oversight on all dual screen systems but the N3DS (and 2DS obviously)when it comes to this.

I prefer using a ds lite for ds games, but my current one is basically a brick :(. ds games look good enough on my n3ds (given that i only play pokemon on them)

DSi (non-XL) is the way to go for DS games, IMO. Second choice would be a DSlite, preferably a newer model w/ the better/brighter screens.

That being said... If one only wants to own/carry one device for DS/3DS games or cannot buy both a N3DS and a DSi, the N3DS would be my choice. It being dual purpose and all.

I've found DS games to play okay on 3DS for the most part. Image is rather fuzzy due to lower resolution. For general DS playing I'd say the regular DSi is the best, as it has proper metal based buttons. The D-Pad on the DS Lite is absolutely fucking horrible, as it becomes unresponsive really quickly. Even on some good condition DS Lites I've tried I found pressing diognally impossible without hurting your fingers.

DSi XL has dual IPS screens, and the larger screens reduce eye strain. All DS consoles have the same resolution so no matter the screen size everything will be equally detailed.

I prefer the Original DSi (I might get hate for that) because of the clicky buttons and bigger form. Though that L button can only work 1/456765342453576543557654534676856436457685435467 times when playing Mario Kart DS.

DSi XL by far. IPS screens and the best speakers of any Nintendo handheld. Although the standard Nintendo screen lottery applies. If you can find one with neutral colors you are set. 3DS XL with IPS screens is decent as well but I still prefer the DSi XL.

I agree with you. I never got the original DS or DSi so I went from a DS Lite to a XL and it was a massive upgrade! I loved the giant screens for pretty much every single game I played on it from Pokemon to The Legend of Zelda! It was extremely comfortable to hold in my opinion so my hands didn't get as fatigued as they would have with the DS Lite.
