Homebrew Looking for method to get in Homebrew.

Okay as of right now I know of possibly two methods to get into homebrew under the circumstance of doing this for a friend who only want's access to Homebrew. He wishes to not fully hack his 3DS.

What I'm looking for is a way to get into Homebrew launcher but still have a way to get Homebrew if the system firmware needed an update. As of right now I have OOT3D with an installed payload of Old 3DS FW 11.0.0.33 US.

Now here's the two methods I had in mind for not losing a way into homebrew.

Option A: Next time there is a prompt for a system update, I decline the update and use my OOT3D entry point at 11.0.0.33 to get in. When I'm in there I set a second copy of the game that I would get to set the FW for the payload to whatever the current version is. Rinse and repeat.

Option B: And I'm not really sure how this works but I would use a powersave device to install the needed payload to my OOT3D. Anyone want to fill me in on how this works?

So out of these two options, what's my best bet to getting access to homebrew and keeping it?

Neither.
Neither of those will work, there's no guarantee that with the next firmware update OoTHax will continue to work. It could be weeks or months after a firmware update is released before there's a working payload for OoT, or any other entrypoint.

Being able to update to the latest firmware version and not going past just Homebrew don't go together. You can pick one, or the other.

If you want to be able to update your firmware, you need to atleast downgrade to 9.2 and setup redNAND.
If you don't want to do any downgrading, then you can't update to the latest firmware until you're 100% sure the entry point you're using isn't broken.

This is for my friend. He at this point in time has absolutely no desire to fully mod his 3DS knowing the risks involved in the process or at least for right now. For him, being able to get access to homebrew means having access to a save manager, save editors, custom themes and whatever else HBL has to offer. Even if Option A which seems to be the popular choice is a tad risky, well I question if OOTHax will ever go down seeing how long it's been active for. As far as powersaves well I'm not so sure how they work to begin with but was told using it was a viable option.

I personally used OoThax as my second entrypoint after tubehax died. I used a PowerSaves and it worked fine. I wouldn't recommend updating because he might decide he wants CFW in the future. I personally stayed on 10.3 for as long as I could. The only annoying thing with PowerSaves is the two different carts and having to try both save files.

well I question if OOTHax will ever go down seeing how long it's been active for.

You mean like what happened with 11.0? OoTHax was not a viable entry point for over a month.
11.0 Released, breaking OoTHax: May 9
OoTHax updated to work with 11.0: June 26

There's no telling if the next update will break even more things, or make it harder to get entry points working again.

it could potentially be blocked in a next update, the same thing they did with IronFall ;-;

This a primary entrypoint for Homebrew and will be available within the next few days, maybe even today... and i dont know whether or not it can be done away, ask Nba_yoh either on twitter or gbatemp

No matter what you do, if you don't downgrade, your friend can't just update firmware willy-nilly. They will need to sit at an old version and wait for whatever entry point they're using to be updated to work with the new firmware.
