Oh now you tell me. LOL. When will this be available and is this gonna be some sort of permanent entry or just one that could potentially be done away with next update?
If you aren't fully hacked with a CFW or A9LH, there is never a guarantee that your entry point won't be removed in the next update. That's why you should never update until you know your entry point works with the newest firmware. So no matter what unless you at least downgrade and run an emuNAND, you will have to just not ever update firmware until you know your entry point is compatible.

This point appears to be lost on half the people posting in here :/

Curious. Is there a way to continue to use your 3DS like normal without having to update the system's FW when a new update becomes available? Like it basically ignores that the system is trying to prompt it to update. In that case this wouldn't be an issue.... but aren't specific game updates and system updates different or does the system have to update to update that specific game?

Game and Firmware updates are indeed different. Certain games will require newer firmware to run, and will come with that firmware on the cart (It's how some people can jump from really low firmwares to something earlier than the latest). If your friend doesn't play online, or download from the eShop, then you don't have to worry about always being up to date. But if you want to do either of those, you have to be on the system firmware latest version.

You can play online with an older firmware though, I thought?

As far as powersaves well I'm not so sure how they work to begin with but was told using it was a viable option.

I didn't see anyone explain to you yet about how it works, but it super simple
Backup your cart, rename the hax payload to the name of the save, restore and Homebrew access
