I have just bought my first New 3DS XL and it came with 11.0.0-33E.

I want to play backups on it, like I used to with the R4 flashcard with my DS many years ago.

I don't want to buy a cart this time, so I believe I need to go the CFW route.

Is there a CFW available for 11.0.0-33E?

no, there is not as there are no public arm9 exploits for arm9 or no downgrader for it.
Was the console bought from second hand or from a store?
You could try returning it and buying a new one hoping it was on a downgradable firmware.
With that console if you want to play 3ds backups use a sky3ds and ds backups use an r4i

Brand new? That's extremely unlucky to get that firmware on a new system as it's the latest. Software downgrades are available for <= 10.7
You might consider taking it back.

You can hardmod it for cfw, but that's a little pricey and you have to send it off because the soldering is difficult for that model.

£65 is simply too much :(

I'll wait for an exploit to be found.

Another ARM9 exploit might never happen, there hasn't been a new once since ntrcardhax and that was patched in 10.3/10.4. ARM11 is no longer enough as they completely blocked downgrading of system titles from ARM11.
You might want to consider getting a hardmod which would allow you to downgrade the console, it's probably cheaper than a Sky3DS. @gamesquest1 does them in the UK.

@gamesquest1 is doing both of my consoles and i considered a sky3ds card. honestly for the skill, risk of brick and hassle for a first time users getting on 9.2 its well worth the money. A whole lot cheaper than a £75 (if your lucky) sky3ds+ card. Shoot him a PM

What is a hardmod?

What does it do?

How does it do it?

Basically, you directly access the system storage via soldered wires and a SD adapter and modify the software as-needed to downgrade.
