Hey guys, I bricked my new 3ds xl and I want to sent it to someone who can repair, he said he can do the hardmod but ther eis no guarantee that hardmod will working on my console. I don't get it. I thought hard mod will unbrick my console and I have all the backups

You should downgrade your 3ds to 9.2 to run emuNAND. You can do that for free.
But the easiest way is to buy a sky3ds for like 80$.
There is a great Youtuber called TCPixel. He makes really good tutorials for beginner. His videos will probably help you to setup emuNAND.

Do this up until Part 3 at least if you want to play free games ect ect. I recommend getting FreeShop once you're done. The only thing you need to download yourself are Custom Themes (here and here) and DLC cia's.

The last part: Video tutorials get outdated very, very quickly. They are not updated to the latest and more stable builds of programs you're supposed to use. Just look at a 3DS modding video from 2015. All messing with emuNAND ect and partitions on your SD card, where you can use A9LH, use sysNAND and not have it removed unless Ninty comes to your house.

So yes, this is what's wrong with your advice. Sorry if this sounded harsh but really? All I want is to help noobs to prevent threads cluttering the forums like it has been happening for a looong time now. People who make threads are people who followed video tutorials which weren't up to date. It may have helped you, but it put you on a greater risk of bricking than just following Plialects tutorial.

I hate to ask, but I've been out of the loop for a while, having been rather sick the last few months. It seems like there are a lot of new options available, but with all the activity, it's hard for me to see where I should start in gathering information.

I'm thinking I want to install this "AL9H" thing I keep seeing referred to, and use a custom firmware like Luna, but I don't know the process (as most of what I've seen seems to assume AL9H is already installed). Is there a recommended guide? If not, could someone please point me in the direction of some reliable information?

I'm currently running two o3DS's with 4.5 sysNand and Gateway cards, and two n3DS's with 9.2 sysNand and ReiNand for emuNand support. Would this make it more difficult or otherwise preclude me from this process? I'm hoping to be able to use my older NDS flash cards as well, which it looks like Luna supports?

I am overwhelmed here, and so I might as well be a noob again, with all that's happened since the last time I was caught up. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

It has everything you need to know and should answer most of your questions Be careful though, getting your OTP file needed for installing A9LH and installing A9LH in itself is inherently dangerous so make sure you understand the guide fully and ask questions if something is unclear! :o

You use that. It's update frequently with the latest method to get A9LH. Read it over, read all the pages. Then follow the guide to the letter. For your 4.5 systems, you'll want to actually want to start with the 9.2 Update section. To get GW working, once you have set up your systems with A9LH, use the tutorial I wrote on it.

Pretty sure you'll need signature checks to even launch FBI.
Edit: Basically you'll need something that patches signature check.

Thanks both of you! I knew this was the case for games and applications but I was unsure if that applied to system-titles too which I now realized was a dumb question because if this wouldn't be the case we could have downgraded all along quite easily
