Having new devs in the 3DS homebrew scene is always something good.

Now, if only I could become one of those.
Just read a book about C and the examples included with devkitpro, or start with something easier such as Lua through LPP-3DS. Back in PSP days, new devs used to start with Lua (via Lua Player Euphoria, for example).

Someone should really write a guide for people who aren't already programmers.

Considering how the 3DS currently responds to segfaults and other errors (it just locks up) I wouldn't suggest 3DS as a first platform for programming.
C/++ is not the easiest language to start with, so you should really rack up some experience on PC first.

I started learning C with the 3DS, so...

Those are called "books about programming". There's no need for this. There's plenty of documentation, examples and books about C,C++, etc.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way
