Hello,

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post it or if it is already solved somewhere but I have a serious problem here. I used this tutorial to hardmod my 3DS. I followed all the steps, put the fake SD into an Anker 3.0 USB reader and started the 3DS. The boot error appears (white text on blue screen) and I plug the SD Card Reader into my PC. After a few seconds my PC even recognizes my 3DS but Win32DiskImager doesn't. Pictures below shows you how my PC recognizes my 3DS. By the way, I double checked my solder works and double checked that the SD lock button is not down.

Thank you for reading and have a nice day!

Are you sure who have the proper drivers?
Tried rebooting?
Switch USB port?
Are the cables all correctly soldered to the franken SD?
Try reinstalling win32diskimager
I haven't installed any drivers, they are not mentioned in the tutorial thread which I followed.
Yes, tried rebooting plenty of times.
Switched USB port, once with USB 2.0 and once with USB 3.0. And even tried on a different PC with Windows 7.
Tried reinstalling win32diskimager, too.

Are you first with the 3ds off plugging the franken SD to the reader and then booting the console?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Also, old or new 3ds?

Yes, first plugging the fake SD into the Reader, then turning on the 3DS and then plugging it into the PC.
Old 3DS.

Do you have any game cartridge or SD inserted in the 3ds?(yes I know stupid question but tho)

OMG I think this is it! I have a SD and game catridge plugged into my 3DS which is mentioned in the beginning of the tutorial to not have anything plugged in. I'll try with everything plugged out of my 3DS. I will report back ! Thanks.

Okay, tried it now with nothing plugged into my 3DS and Win32DiskImager still doesn't recognize it. Damn, I thought this was the issue.

Your sd cardreader is important, there is somewhere on gbatemp a few posts on what sd cardreaders work best.
Not all sd cardreaders work, the 3ds and especially n3ds(xl) is a bit picky and a 2ds is even more picky on what sd cardreader you use.
He has the recommended Anker I believe, and an O3DS.

Can you post pics of your soldering work, and does the console boot normally without the Anker connected.

Soldering work done on the 3DS or SD Card, or both?

I have the recommended Anker as listed on the tutorial thread.

Yes, does boot normally and everything works. I have played some games without any problem. I will post pictures in about an hour or so. Please check back. Thank you.

So here are the requested pictures:
If you think that my solder work is bad, it is okay because I didn't do it with pro equipment. My brother has a good equipment in his workplace so he can solder it better than me, if you think it is causing the issue here.

If your PC recognized it, I doubt it's a bad install.
To check, make sure the numbers on the bootrom error are 00F800FE 00000000 00000000 00000200 00000000. If there is any other error, your NAND could possibly be damaged (which is why Windows sees it but the actual image reader can't read it).
If the numbers are fine, it's probably the app's error.
