If you or someone else you know has OoT3D or PSMD as both a cartridge and a digital copy, you could (possibly) install the *hax on a physical copy then use Nintendo's save transfer tool to transfer the *hax save to the digital version.
I mean, it's not too useful, but it's cool if you have a friend with one of the games digitally and you don't want to just give them your cart or something.

I dunno.

If something like Tubehax was found for the tool, OoT3D, SMD, V6, and Citizens would all practically be standalones

Just tried it out, and it seems to work. It does however clear the save off the cartridge, so you'd then have to re-hax the OoT cartridge for your own uses.

I also can't be 100% certain it would work on an un-modded console, since I'm running a9lh w/ Luma. But I don't think it has any patches for the save transfer process.

Well, it works, but if you think about it, it's kind of useless. If someone gets the retail version, why copy the save data when you can already use the card?

I thought this was common knowledge.
And yeah, I did it a couple months ago. Works as you would expect.

Quessssstionnnn
is there any possible way we might be able to get a payload stuck in the transfer tool
as in a game has a custom payload installed in the save data, then initiating the transfer actually loads said payload while attempting to transfer it

Just an idiot talking here, this likely isn't possible, but I felt like asking for... I don't know why.

Probably not. I'd imagine that the transfer tool just reads the raw save as any other tool like JK's save manager or SDF would (not taking into account encryption). The reason the PSMD hax works is because of a bug in the zlib decompression code. Oothax has something to do with actually loading the save as well.

If you have hax on a physical cart you can just use the oothax installer, which makes this idea obsolete.

or you could just use svdt or something to copy the save from cart to into the systems installed one.

note to op: which would be even better than official tool, since this could let you keep your friends original save. (you can selectively copy the saveslot you need as they're different files "inside" the savedata, while the official tool would probably just overwrite the whole thing with whats inside the cart)

@AncientBoi, Yeah, believe you can do PSP games as well. But a Pi5 is much powerful in comparison.

Not sure about other models of Pi4 but the Pi 4 B with 8GBs OCed to 2Ghz handles PSP really great except like 1 game I found and it is playable it just looks bad lol Motor Storm Arctic something or other.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Other games I can have turned up to like 2X and all kinds of enhancements, Motorstorm hmmm nope 1X and no enhancements lol

I will admit that one does seem more interesting than the usual Ambernic ones, and I already liked those.

This looks like one of their premium models, so... $150 :glare:

    To me that seems reasonable.

I mean since basically all the games are errmmm free lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
yes that's the expensive part lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean sure it's flexible and stuff but so is uremum but it's fiddly.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150

Yeah it's all choice and that's a good thing :)
