Hey everyone,

I have been thinking about picking up a Wii U recently since my mate recently borrowed his console to me along with a few games, to see what I think of it and so far, it's a pretty fun console but...

I have a Wii, got the Homebrew channel, emulators and allows me to play Wii and GC backups too - these are all things that I enjoy.

So, if I was to pick up a WiiU, how does the Homebrew experience differ from the Wii? Any new things I should be made aware of? Do GC and Wii backups still work fine? Can I play WiiU backups?

Thanks in advance for any help.

You can do all of those things on the Wii U, as well as being able to play Wii U backups with Loadiine. GC games require Nintendont, which works with the official GC adapter as well as Wii and USB controllers.
You do need an exploit game to hack vWii though. LetterBomb will no longer work.

Awesome stuff, that sounds grand. I am guessing the "The Definitive Guide to WiiU Hacking" sticky is the best guide to follow? Are there any videos you can recommend to watch? or should I just follow what is on this forum?

That sticky is only for Wii U mode hacks, not vWii. Wii U mode hacks are dead simple though. Just place HBL and other apps in SD:\wiiu\apps (they follow a similar file/folder structure to Wii homebrew) and go to http://loadiine.ovh and click the button. You can find HBL here https://github.com/dimok789/homebrew_launcher/releases and Loadiine here https://github.com/dimok789/loadiine_gx2/releases
The icon.png and meta.xml are missing from the Loadiine nightlies but you can find them here: https://github.com/dimok789/loadiine_gx2/releases/download/v0.2/loadiine_gx2_beta_v0.2.zip
As for vWii, I'm not sure what the best guide is now, I followed the only guide that existed right after the Wii U launched. This guide seems good though: https://sites.google.com/site/completesg/
