Are you still having trouble with your WADs? Here is how I did it. I used the feature in USB Loader GX to "Dump NAND to EmuNAND" and dumped my NAND to my USB drive (had to edit custom paths and choose USB). Once I had an EmuNAND on my USB, I put all my WADs that I wanted to install in a folder on my SD card and used the WAD Manager feature in USB Loader GX to install all WADs in that folder to EmuNAND. Once that was done I was able to download covers and play those games. There are only a handful of games that don't work and require neek2o. Let me know how you make out.

Yes I'm having the same issue. I used ShowMiiWads to install a bunch of games to the emunand I made with USB GX. Some load, many do not. I also tried to install the neek2o setup for loading the problematic N64 titles, but many of those freeze the console and black screen with that option turned on in the game load menu. Also, after installing that many games, the loading of the backup loader is slow – probably due to all the assets.

I think the easiest thing to do is to have USB Loader GX do everything. If you have the loader create your emunand and install all your wads then you at least know it was done in a way that USB Loader GX would recognize. Not saying using ShowMiiWads is bad. Just that I think using the Loader is better.

Here is what I would recommend doing. If you still have all of your WADs and don't mind losing the emunand you have now then I would delete your current emunand and start over.
-Go into USB Loader GX and change your custom paths so that the path to your emunand points to a folder on your USB drive called nand (just my personal preference and is what I have set up and it works).
-Now go to features and choose Dump Nand to EmuNAND. Your emunand will now be created from your Wii's nand and stored on your USB drive.
-Now take all the wads you have, put them in a single folder and put that folder on your SD card or USB drive.
-Go into features and choose EmuNAND WAD Manager and install WADs from folder and choose the folder with all your WADs.
-Once all the wads finish installing you are safe to delete the folder with the wads.
-Now make sure that the loader will display games from your emunand by clicking the 4th icon from the left on the top (looks like an SD card next to a Wii Channel).
-All your games should display. Now try playing them.

I also tried to install the neek2o setup for loading the problematic N64 titles, but many of those freeze the console and black screen with that option turned on in the game load menu.
Once you have your emunand working you can set up neek2o. I created a guide in another post using ModMii. Just follow what I wrote there and you should be good to go. https://gbatemp.net/threads/usb-loader-gx.149922/page-1075#post-5929568

Also, after installing that many games, the loading of the backup loader is slow – probably due to all the assets.
Yeah, once you have a lot of games installed it does take a long while to boot. Shouldn't be overly long though. Like maybe a minute or 2.

After all this, if you are still having problems with your emunand games, post a syscheck by following this guide here (https://gbatemp.net/threads/posting-a-system-check.300279/). Actually you can post this first if you want so we can see if maybe we can salvage your emunand. Otherwise just delete and start over like I said.

Thanks for your offer to help! I actually followed your exact post to attempt to setup neek2o this week. I thought everything had gone well, but when attempting to launch games installed through ShowMiiWads I get a long list of text on a black screen, with or without neek enabled. It's not the usual code dumps I sometimes see but scans that include looking for covers and such before a rebooting message is returned.

Anyway, one thing at a time. Here is my SysCheck:

IOS250[37] (rev 20, Info: rev 20): Trucha Bug, NAND Access, USB 2.0
This part of your syscheck is what's important. You have d2x-v9beta installed in slot 249 with base 80. It should be d2x-v8 with base 56. And in slot 250, I don't know what CIOS you have installed but whatever it is it is base 37 and it should be 2dx-v8 with base 57. When it comes to updating d2x I always wind up getting help from @Cyan . He has a pack that he put together that has worked great for me. I tried searching for it but can't find it. Since I tagged him in this post hopefully he will respond with a link to his pack. Once you get those CIOSes updated you should have no problem playing your games.

Edit: Actually, I was just thinking about it. If you already followed my other guide for building neek2o using ModMii then you can take your syscheck and run it through ModMii and it will tell you what needs to be updated, download everything you need, and even generate you a guide to follow. You can give that a try if you'd like.

here it is :
d2x cIOS installer pack for Wii

his slot 250 is cIOS rev20
it's a version released before d2x, as d2x is a mod of rev21
the full name of "d2x" is "cIOS rev21 mod d2x v8 final".
d2x project is the continuation of Waninkoko's cIOS.

IOS 36 and 37 were the common bases back with Waninkoko's cIOS. it's not bad, but not the best compatibility.
IOS80 as base on the contrary is really a bad idea. That IOS is used by the system menu, it shouldn't have functions needed by the games.

If he has d2x v9, maybe he needs or wanted to test the Dual USB port support? in that case, if you want to keep dual port support you need v10-alt.
if you don't need it, you can select either v8 or v10.
v8 = final
v9 = v8 + beta support for dual port + 1 hdd fix + issues with emunand
v10 = v8 + v9 hdd fix (no usb1 support, no emunand issue)
v10-alt = v9

I have a link for vWii too, I wanted to merge both to have a single link with wii and vwii, but users reported issues (I probably made a mistake when adding the d2x libFAT to fix emunand with UStealth) and I didn't fix it yet.

Thanks again for the helpful advice, and for your patience. I'm just getting back into the Wii scene but love all things related to modding. It's more a hobby than anything and I sometimes enjoy fixing the systems more than playing them.

I do not know why I have the bases I have now. It's been some time since I updated my system and since most things seemed to work, I haven't bothered. Now that I'm back to playing around with it more, I'm hoping to get everything working properly. I do know that there is a no-solder modchip inside the system, which was installed before softmods came about. It has also created an inching problem which is a pain because it requires pressing the eject button to release the drive before anything can be launched, otherwise you'll get a disc read or drive error.

Anyway, I'll have time to try updating this tomorrow. I could probably feel my way through the ModMii interface, but I'd also welcome direction to a guide or set of steps about where to start or what to do next.

As for Cyan's response, I did not need dual USB ports, and I do not think the choice of base was intentional. It probably resulted from whatever guide was available at the time. Now that modding has progressed, I'd like to update the system to the most compatible state. Why would one need dual usb support? I only use one hard drive but may eventually use a hid controller with nintendont, if that matters.

@kid sampson - ModMii will make a step by step guide for you. I've used it on 8 or 9 Wiis including one last weekend and I'll be doing another one tonight.

Just start ModMii up (I use the ModMii Skin version):
A) type the required "I Agree"
B) select the first option "ModMii Wizard + guide (Start Here to Mod Your Wii)"
C) click NEXT
D) It'll ask IS THIS YOUR FIRST TIME...or...WOULD YOU LIKE TO UPDATE ALL YOUR EXISTING SOFTMODS (AKA RE_HACK YOUR WII)
E) select "Yes", click NEXT & just redo the entire setup

most users depend on modmii to "re-softmod", but if he already has "Homebrew Channel 1.1.0 running on IOS58" then he only need to replace one or two IOS slot, that's all.
But some of his IOS are not correctly detected by syscheck (like his slot 60) and he is using system menu 4.2 (he could update to 4.3)
BC is v2 (Backward Compatibility IOS). This is used to play gamecube games from disc channel or from DIOS MIOS/Lite. you probably won't need it but latest version is BC v6. Seeing you already have MIOS v10 (DIOS MIOS 2.1) installed, I wonder if you used to play gamecube backups using DIOS MIOS, in that case a lot of games might had issues due to outdated BC version.

so, kid sampson, you can do like you want, whether :

1 - use modmii
Using modmii it will update all your system files to latest version. (system menu 4.3, latest IOS and cIOS, latest BC)
it will ask questions and will download all the IOS and cIOS of the latest wii version, and generate a guide to follow based on your choices).
it might also install a "usbloader channel" forwarder, but it's not compatible with USBLoaderGX. You could delete the wad from the modmii wad downloaded folder to prevent installing it, or going to modmii option and disable it.
it might also install either latest d2x (r53 ?) or v8 final. I think you need to go to modmii settings before generating and answering the questions to choose what modmii will suggest to you. So it's "I want this, so please suggest me what I want".
If you already know what you want, you could do it manually.

Modmii is good because it's all automated to download files from nintendo and then you use a wad manager to install all wads and update your console.

2 - use d2x cIOS installer and select only the cIOS you want.
I already posted the link in my previous post.
extract it on your SD card, in a sub-folder of /apps/
example:
sd:/apps/d2x installer/ <extract the package here>

launch it in HBC and when you get to the install selection screen, you need to select this :

what : d2x cIOS v8 final
where : slot 249
base : 56
version : 21008
Press A and wait for the install to download from nintendo's servers (you need a working network setup).

when you are back to the install screen, do the same but with base57 in slot250.

after the second install is completed, you can press Home button to exit the installer.

Thanks @Cyan! I've got everything updated. Now I'm going to make a fresh nand dump as there's still something going awry when trying to load VC titles installed to that. I figure the best way to troubleshoot the issue is to do as @Clutz450 suggests using USB Loader GX to do everything including the wad installs.

@Clutz450 I finally got neek2o working using your guide and no longer have issues loading games. No more weird code dumps or black screens.

While troubleshooting, I found another issue. I realized that things were taking a long time to load, so I decided to revert back to my old drive, a 500 GB WD Passport. I copied the SNEEK folder over as well as my nand and everything loads quickly.

The drive I'm having issues with is a 750 Passport that was recently repurposed. I did a quick format but may have not set it up correctly. Using it, games load from the emu nand but it is much slower. Whereas the 500 GB drive loads in a few seconds, this one can take 30 secs to load a game.

My guess is that the drive needs to be either reformatted or defragmented. But I'm going to first swap the USB cable and see if this drive is one that needs the idle / sleep mode disabled. Anything else I should try?

If I have to reformat it are there specific options I should use? It's been a long time since I set up the first drive.
