Hello everyone
I wanted to know some things about the sky3ds:
Currently, its the only option to play 3ds ROM with a new 3ds if i but this new 3ds right now?
Is it possible to play romhack/cheat/play online with the sky3ds?
Can i downgrade and put a custom firmware via the sky3ds? It seems really complicated and not safe ...

Sky3DS+ works on all FWs I think

You can't play hacks on Sky3DS+ unless sigs are patched.

1 - O3ds +N3ds (all FW, but don't update to 11.0)
2 - romhack only with HANS (an homebrew). You can play online by modifying the header of the rom. Cheat only possible with save editor.
3 - You can downgrade if your firmware is equal or inferior to 10.7 (in that case, the sky3DS is useless, except for the cubic ninja entrypoint). If you follow the guide, it's easy. It's safe if you do correctly all the steps!

Hardbrick is impossible if you use the right files (depends of the region (eur/usa/jap) and type of 3DS(n3ds or o3ds)), and the latest downgrader.
If you downgrade, the sky3ds is completely useless. I recommend you do try the downgrade. If it fails (only a softbrick, it's recoverable by upgrading the console to 11.0.0 with the safe mode, but with 11.0.0, the downgrade has been patched, except with a hardmod for now).
Before the downgrade, don't hesitate to format the 3DS, it improves the success downgrade rate.

If your firmware is below 10.6, just use browserhax to launch the downgrader...

If you buy a New 3DS now, it should be on firmware <= 10.3 so should be fine to follow Plailect's guide. So, no, Sky3DS is still not the only option for now.

For online play, to be able to fully enjoy it on a Sky3DS, you will have to "patch" each of your online games with a private header (i.e. something you extract from your own games) to eliminate the risk of being banned. This is not the case if you play CIA games on a CFW, so it's far better.

It may seem complicated, but the steps are well detailed so, and as Omegadrien said, if you follow them carefully you should not have any problem. You do not need any special or advanced knowledge to be able to go through the guide.

On a personal note: I own a Sky3DS (not the Sky3DS+, the "blue button" inferior version), and I don't regret for a minute switching to A9LH + CFW. I prefer having access to the backups and the homebrew apps from the Home Menu. My Sky3DS is now only collecting dust, but I keep it just in case it comes handy some day.

even if you follow the steps exactly there is still a risk of a soft brick but if that happens just load up your recovery menu to update to the latest firmware but the newest firmware doesn't allow downgrading (yet) so you only have one chance and for the record I can confirm Sky3ds+ does work on the latest firmware
