What happens if you go online with modified stages? Does it crash the game?
I haven't tested this out myself but my guess is. If its just a texture hack it will be fine. if it moves some stage elements around but keeps the same collision it should be fine but things like adding new platforms or the hazardless stages that replace omega forms, that will probably break it.

What he said think of it this way the game wont crash but it'll desync because the game takes your inputs so if you jump up to a platform or throw out a hitbox that isnt availible on the other person console to them itll look like youre doing a bunch of nonsense and same to you.

I've started to notice over at gamebanana people changing the color of Marth and Lucinas hair. Guessing people figured out how to get around the material, mind sharing how ?

I understood, but since that would appear as hacking to others, it's probably best to avoid it I think.

Their hair is colored with vertex colors. It's not done at the texture level. It requires 3ds Max to change, since you're altering the properties of the model.

Theoretically if everyone has the same patch it won't desync and won't kick anyone, I'm not sure how Smash handles stages but Rean and I swapped in one of the unreleased map stages (Mahi Mahi wasn't out at the time) by patching a string for the map to load in Sploon and it synced fine so I assume the same would apply here, but you could only really test it with friends

How does one update a file on you uploaded gamebanana? I can't find the option to do so anywhere.

Also, no matter what I do, when trying to edit the stock icon it comes out blue and red. Even after converting it to PNG, any fix for this?

1.) On your mod's page, there'll be an edit button in the bar at the top of the page, right under the title.
2.) Stock icons need to be saved in A8R8G8B8 dds format.

So CSP is DXT5 DSS is CSP
Stock icon is A8R8G8B8 DSS
What about in battle portrait
And victory screen?

I'm gathering info because I'm writing a universal Q&A

CSP and Victory Screen are both DXT5.
Stock and Battle Portrait are both A8R8G8B8.
All character textures with no transparency are DXT1, and all character textures with transparency are DXT5.

Alright thanks I'll be sure to credit you for the help.

I have two questions. What is DDS2PNG used for? and How do i get it work it says it can't find the path. All my other bat files work so far.

Sup, guys! So I have ANOTHER problem when loading mods, first I'm using the latest EU update importing and building the Mod through SmashExplorer. However, when I load the game it works fine and the music and textures load fine... Sometimes. Sometimes it just randomly crashes at the Stage Menu with no warning. I have gotten past it a few times to see that the Mods DO work but the crashes happen more times than less. Any help is appreciated !

Just wondering, has anyone found the textures for the text under the battle portraits? Because I've been looking and I haven't been able to find it. I'm beginning to think it might be generated. Also, has anyone found where the small thin border around CSS icons is at?

Edit: It also kind of sucks that you can't give the Mii fighter slots additonal costumes.

Hey everyone! Just made this account to say, thanks for all the helpful posts, tutorials, and comments. Been lurking for a while and now and so far everything is going great! Without this thread, I probably would not have got things working.

Can't wait for the Sm4shexplorer plugin that allows you to add new music to be released, and being able to make characters load 2 soundbanks properly in the same match! We are going at a very fast pace, discovering things all the time! Can't wait to see how things progress in the following weeks!
