well if it works we know its not hardware
Actually, there's two reasons why I believe it's a hardware issue:

and
https://gbatemp.net/threads/q-error-on-boot-followed-by-strange-brick.425916/page-2#post-6331687

The second post, in particular, mentions a time-based solution to one of the issues. That can't be normal!

I still have the pre-A9LH 9.2 sysNAND backup that's completely untouched. I could flash that in and send it to Ninty.
That works, definitely try that!

Sounds good. You should have a exploitable cartridge game handy though just in case they update it before giving it back. That way you can get back to haxxing no matter what :)

Although I wouldn't worry about it that much, as updating something you own is technically illegal and I doubt they'd bother anyway.

Maybe the pre-A9LH backup will fix your issue. Given that signature checks are removed, it's perfectly possible for the qtm module to be corrupted and the system not notice it.

I have an OOT cart with a n3DS 10.7 payload still in there. I also have 3 friends with hacked 3DSes (I did it for them; all A9LH) so I can use JK to switch payloads. (For some reason, oothax installer doesn't work on CFW.) I'm pretty much covered software-wise so guess it's fine. I hope I get the same 3DS back so I can restore my save files. I spent hundreds of hours in Monster Hunter X.

Actually...I have a few questions. I ordered my n3DS instore from a Toys r Us a about a few months ago but I lost the receipt. Do I still need it? Also, what will become of my NNID? Finally, what's the best vague/fake reason to tell Ninty about it?

I just remebered that the pre-A9LH NAND backup has OTP as it's nickname, lol.

If you are still able to get into Decrypt9, try to dump the SD Padgen xorpad of the respective NAND, if they send you a different unit, I believe you will be able to restore (decrypt) your saves through that.

if they send you the same unit but restored you should have the same FC. but nothing will happen to your NNID. if they haveto replace it i think they'd transfeer the games over.

I'm going to send it in with a blank pre-A9LH 9.2 NAND, so it doesn't have anything. I dont think they can transfer it.

Also, can you elaborate more on the SD padgen?
