So the Wii U can emulate or play games from every single Nintendo console, except 3DS, right? I really want to have every version of Mario Kart on a single console. How close are we to a 3DS emulator now? Do you think we can have a 3DS emulator before the NX gets released? Hopefully at least before Mario Kart 9 gets released. I have a 3DS, so it's not like a really need this, but it would be totally cool.

Why not? The Wii U is enough to emulate it if optimized well enough.

The thing is no small time dev is ever going to put forth the effort to optimize it (If it was ever even put forth as a concept).

An example. The wii can play n64 wads just fine because they were optimized by Ninty - then go ahead and play some games on Not64, lots of issues.

We'd only ever get solid 3ds emu on wiiu from Ninty, and with NX next March that isn't going to happen.

Now granted Not64 has pretty good compatibility, but then think how few devs care about the wiiu - it has sold horrendously. The wii scene was huge and even it couldn't put out a truly optimized emu.

Dude... no. Citra requires quite a lot of power to run and I doubt someone would bother to program a 3ds emulator for a dead console.

It's not dead just yet. It's still fun and all but everything is really pricy when it comes to buying new games.

On topic here:

The Wii U is able to emulate all consoles except 3DS/2DS/DS... etc as long as it is modified. Vanilla Wii U's (unmodified) will only be able to emulate from the Wii Console.

Granite maybe if someone made a 3DS emulator for Wii U I doubt anyone would even consider making it since a lot of things would have to be changed (Screen res, textures, file formats, models, etc...) Just a pain in the butt to deal with :/.

You can use Loadiine to play emulated DS games.

I never understood the whole "This system is doing so good, we should hack it" thing and the "this system isn't selling so well let's just forget about it". It seems backwards to me.

The thing is if a console sells less, there are less devs who own the console, and so less stuff gets made (b/c less people to make it). It's not like a bunch of people came together and decided to boycott the wiiu. The scene died with the console.

Most emulators require alot more power than the original by default because you need to emulate the architecture, xd. I'm just saying it's not impossible. I'm not saying there will be one or if there won't.

What the fuck is wrong with people? Why do people want to run PS1, PS2, and 3DS emulators on hardware that can't work at the same capacity as a laptop or a desktop pc? Shit even a cellphone or a tablet with ddr4 can out run the wii u.

No it can't. Take a common ultrabook with an integrated Intel GPU. That isn't going to emulate a console really well. Besides, who wants to bother hooking up the computer to the TV, using the wrong controllers, or dealing with getting real controllers working, and all the other nonsense that comes with emulators. It makes no sense. I'd rather just play the 3DS games on my real 3DS then emulate it on my computer. Plus getting 3D, touchscreens, gyros, working on the computer is harder. I don't want a big expensive gaming desktop right now, not unless I needed it to get serious computer work done. Besides, people who do have big expensive gaming PCs, don't usually have them in the same room as their main TV. Depending on someone's house layout, those rooms could be very far apart.

Also, it isn't just about playing the game, it's about a big fuck you to Nintendo. It's about power and control. I've looked up porn on the 3DS and Wii U, not because that's a good way to watch porn, it isn't, but just because Nintendo doesn't want you to.

It's too hard with too little fine. Fine, story over for now. Maybe in 5 or so years the NX can be made to play everything. Maybe not.
