SOB - haven't played in awhile and I went on today and now its 5.5.1. Had blocking on. Not sure how this happened as I didn't even use it in so long. Maybe I should have removed the power? Damn.

I's easy to find out. Check your Wii U Wlan connection whether you put in an IP for DNS or not.
If yes you obviously used Tubehax but I don't think so as you would be the first to receive an upate while using Tubehax.

Sigh... Tubehax consistently blocks updates, it's probably not tubehax, because everyone would be on the latest firmware if it was off long enough for you to download the entire file and update.

Did you actually do something to block updates or did you just change the settings on the Wii u to not do automatic updates?

btw: I still don't know what's the sense of this thread ...the Wii U was updated to 5.5.1 ...and now?!

Ok well, we all give you big hug, a little kiss on your cheek and stroke your head.

Done.

Sad but true.
One last thing to say before this senseless thread should be closed:
Even if you're on 5.5.1 now be sure to block updates via Tubehax.
A kernel exploit already exists and may be released to the public one day while IOSU exploit is another thing you might want to put your hopes on to see it being happen before winter 2666.

Anyone who has a lower firmware needs to UNPLUG their console when they're not using it. You gain nothing by keeping it on standby. Sorry about your mistake TC. Make sure to take precautions for any future updates.
LOL unplug. That's a hassel. Just use tubehax and router blocking, turn off auto update stuff and shut it off when your done. Regular shut down is fine if you have all those measures in place.

well, I don't know if this interests anyone, or not, but I have tubehax DNS as my primary DNS server on my 5.4.0 Wii U, and nothing entered in the secondary DNS server field, and although my Wii U hasn't updated itself yet, I have it turned off, because it suddenly started saying "preparing update" every time i start to load a game (i was trying to play super mario maker - retail disc, and it happened. then the next day it happened while trying to load twilight princess HD). I don't know how it even downloaded any update data with its current DNS settings.

I'm too worried to try playing at all now... I guess i can try to run that update data remover using WUPinstaller. i have firmware spoofing to 5.5.1 installed.

thoughts, anyone?

my 5 year old was playing yoshi's wooly world before this all happened.. thought maybe she did somehting.. but she didn't change the DNS settings, so i am still at a loss.

It might be just a game update.
You keep it online so it receives the notication when your games get updates.
Download them with jnustool and install them with wupinstaller.

You don't have to. The same panic happened to me when I got my Wii U, updated to 5.3.2 (Splatoon) and wanted to play my Nintendo Land disc again, so ... :P

yeah you guys were right.. it was just mario maker trying to update. :P

i'm still on 5.4.0 spoofing 5.5.1 and all is well... except i still can't get loadiine gx sd to work at all for me... or any loadiine, for that matter.

initial modified kernel exploit works fine, and browser restarts. however, when i attempt to run loadiine, i hang my system/gamepad. maybe i'm not doing it right (trying to directly run the app), as i read something about needing to launch it from HBL... sigh.. i can't seem to find definitive information, or a simple step by step, from scratch to running a ROM ripped from a retail disc, on system version 5.4.0.

its not like I'm new to this type of thing either.. I've modded every console I've owned since the SNES and Megadrive(genesis).. (if i remember correctly the NES didn't need modding, and pirated carts worked fine on it). and soft-modded everything since PS2 myself. ps1 was more of a non-solder hardware hack (the manual spin-up spin-down disc swap method)... but anyway, i'm more than familiar with console modding/hacking, especially gamecube, wii, DS, 3DS... so i don't think it's a matter of skill or competence. if anything, I must have overlooked some magical thread that explains it all..
