My o3DS shuts down (with a popping noise) if I open it too far. Doing a quick Google search seems to show that it is the ribbon cable that has become loose and I need to tape it down. But I can't find any guides on how to do that. The closest I can get are with the iFixit guides to replace my LCD but those go too far as the ribbon cable only has come loose. Is there any sort of way to do that?

(I plan on buying a Phillips 000 screwdriver to remove the motherboard protector tomorrow, do I need anything else?)

It could also be that the ribbon cable is starting to tear, but try reseating the cable first. I just read a post where the person said they built up layers of tape and then some foam on top to put some pressure on the connector and that worked, so you could try that, it would be difficult to take off all the tape in the future without possibly damaging the ribbon cable though.

So I managed to get to the motherboard (By also having to use a dremel on the stripped screws) and reseated most cables. It didn't work. But I've worked out a temporary solution: I jammed the hinge of the 3DS using a plastic card to prevent it from opening to the point where it crashes. The only question I have left now is: How do I reseat the microphone? At the moment it isn't plugged in so that doesn't work (not that I really need it, most games also allow you to use A instead). I (and my parents) have spent an hour trying to reseat it.
