Gaming DS homebrew without flashcarts?

So, I had a kind of useful idea, we could test various web exploits until we get the DS/DSi browser to crash, and then develop some sort of homebrew loader for it (and maybe a filetype that isn't .nds so there wouldn't be any piracy or anything like that, maybe .ndsx would work).

Why would we not want piracy?

Anyway flash carts are dirt cheap, readily available and there is no benefit to doing an exploit like this unless you wanted to learn exploiting things. I suppose as you have the browser in there you can gain some more memory compared to a stock DS and what you could do with flashme.

On the specifically I do not know if the browser is sandboxed or not. People seem happy enough with the way DSi exploitation is going though.

Redily avalible? As in, not online? I can't buy flashcarts online because reasons unless it's Amazon or eBay, and they tend to frown upon these kinds of things. If you've got any listings like that, please do tell. Otherwise, I'll continue to be watching over the 3ds-dsi scene.

There have been a few places that do real world stuff, most of those seem to have dried up though.

Ebay will tend to have things from time to time, I don't know what the magic terms are this week though. They are also more expensive.

I guess piracy isn't that bad for DSi games, as every developer has basically moved on, and does not depend upon their DS title(s) for their company to stay afloat, but as for the browser, i'm not sure either, but it would still be cool if we could play homebrew without a flashcard, as I don't feel like ordering one cause i'm lazy

It would work on the DS, DS lite, DSi, DSi XL, 3DS, 3DS XL, n3DS, n3DS XL because it is a DS title.

if you find one that crashes the browser, send me a message, but do not post it here or else nintendo might find it and patch it

The DS doesn't have enough memory for homebrew and the DSi has an exploit. But really, a flashcart is just the way to go and easier to use

It seems eBay have relaxed the rules, last year if anyone listed and R4 it would be removed within a day, but recently i've noticed most of them run till the end, i don't know if any new laws or something has come in to play, or if maybe that's just eBay here in the UK,

the DS don't have browser nor SD Card, so would need to store the homebrew on RAM, which he has a really small amount of. even with the opera RAM expansion.
the dsi (and the ds) can't access WPA2 encripted wifi, so....

to do this you will need to change your wifi to wpa (insecure), make a server that will send the homebrew over wifi (DS has no intenal memory) instead of some other site (DNS), and even then it will only send small HB 'cause of small ammount of memory on the DS...
too intensive for nothing.
on the other hand, go to the internet and buy a flashcard (r4) which costs 5$(!) and can load any rom easily, with just download-and-play interface w/o the need to do some silly exploits....

on the DSi that has already been done, but it can only run small homebrews. also too much effort.

well, what about DSi/XL only HB? That's not as hard, right? Just load the NDS file from the sd, and no WPA needed.

read what I wrote about DSi, DSi XL is the same.
you need an exploit to start the chain of the reactions, which leads in the end to loading a rom. for that, you need an exploitable game, which allways goes down 5 mins after release, or the browser. so, yeah, browser, what I have written before.

The problem with making a format like .ndsx is that you cant use any current nds homebrew and let's be honest, who will be bothered making new homebrew for a console like the DS? It's .nds or nothing! But besides, don't pirated games not work without a flashcart anyway? Something to do with dldi (lol idk)
