Hi all,

I will be getting a Wii U that's on 5.3.2, I want to restore the Wii U to factory before using it. But I know the previous owner has spoofed it to 5.5.1.

Can I restore it and start again? or is it best not to do that? I assume if I can restore it, it will stay on 5.3.2 as long as I use Tubehax/not connect it to the internet? Or will the spoof take over and render the Wii U to 5.5.1?

The other question is I have few retail games, can I continue to play them as normal?

I want to try out loadiine, but wasn't sure if it I use it, it means I cant use my retails disks?

Sorry for the noob questions and thanks in advance.

1) Format it, but i don't think you should

2) The spoof can't take over, it is permanent

3) You can still play to retail games or eShop Games (You can acess it with tubehax with nnu patcher)

4) Loadiine will stop using Mii Maker as menu when you restart your Wii U, it isn't permanent.

And yeah you can still play retail games ! Loadiine just run backup games, it replace Mii Maker adress to Loadiine one.

It doesn't change anything. (Only Mii Maker, but you just have to restart your Wii U if you want to use it)

EDIT: Loadiine doesn't affect anything.

I think if you restore it will be 5.3.2 but always spoofed (although it could rewrite the lot if the 5.3.2 update file wipes and overwrites the version info ??)

Can you not just manually delete all data rather than formatting?

It would be safer to manually do it, and keep the spoof IMHO. Makes sure tubahax dns is set though always.

Many thanks for the replies, the only reason I was considering to format the Wii U is because this one has a start up fault (it doesn't start first time, you have to hard reset it once and then it will start up) I read somewhere that restoring to default fixed it, so I wanted to try it. But if it's too risky in terms of losing 5.3.2 or the spoof going funny, I may just live with it lol. I just don't know if having to hard reset it all the time will damage the machine in the long run?

the fault is as documented here http://techforums.nintendo.com/message/140830

Just Spoof your firmware when 5.6.0 or 5.5.2 goes out (Uses WUP Installer)

Thanks Kafluke that's great to hear, I think I might try it then since its confirmed that there wont be any issues.

I don't have the machine yet, so will report back once I've done it and hope it sorts out the issue with it not starting first time.

Sorry, 1 more thing, is there 2 ways to reset the info on the Wii U? I seen in settings and it shows "Delete All Content and Settings" is this the only option? or is there another function to "Format" it or "Restore to Factory"?
