This has happened any time I've ever bought a new memory card, and almost a year later I still don't have it sorted. I have a 128 Gb with my emunand house my legit purchases and the like. Any time I ever try to go to a different card though, I have this weird glitch.

It won't let any cia installer launch.

I've tried three different 128 Gb cards from Best buy and most recently a 200gb from Amazon. Same story, everything save any cia installer from big blue to fbi is fine.

I've tried with emunand tool, and I've tried the method of cloning my micro SD and then using Easeus to extend my partition. Same thing.

I'm about to return my fifth card, but this is silly. Am I doing something wrong, or am I just insanely unlucky with SD cards?

*edit* I should clarify that even if I were to make a fresh emunand on the target card, the same thing occurs.

Sounds like bad luck to me, especially if it happens with a fresh emuNAND and not just a transferred one.

That seems plausible; what I don't understand is why is it only Cia installers that don't work? Everything else runs just fine, it's only Cia installers that crash back to the home menu. Part of me wonders if there's some aspect of them that maps your card? Like if there's some manner of database file I need to delete or something to make it start fresh, y'know?

How are you installing the CIA Installer? seems more likely something is wrong in the injection process or corrupt CIA installer to begin with rather than 5 bad sd cards.

I used USB Image Tool to make a 1:1 copy of my sd card, and restored it to my 200 gb with the same application. Then I used easeus to extend the partition to fill the remaining new space.

Big Blue is still installed as a result of the 1:1 copy process, but whether I try to run the installed big blue cia or switch from reinand to gateway and try using the .3DS file, it crashes to the home menu every time. If I use the .3ds for fbi it does the same thing.

If I switch back to my 128 Gb card, the installed cia as well as the .3DS file work fine, so I feel like it's something wrong with the emunand partition.

If I use emunand tool to extract and then inject my nand from the original card to the target, I get the same results. The other weird kicker is that I can run the homebrew file from homebrew loader as long as I do it before I enter emunand, so I feel like the problem is somewhere in how the emunand partition is being made.

i would try removing the tools, using Universal Inject Generator to create a new one and see if that works any better. if nothing else, just to try to narrow down where the problem may be.

Your problem is related to the fact that bigbluemenu cia installer crash if you have more than 100 go of free space on your card.
Create a folder at the root of the SD CARD and fill it with anything you want like movies etc to have less than 100 go of free space
Install your games in cia and delete the movies step by step but keep under 100 go left

Whoa, really? I had no idea about that limitation! Yeah, I'll try just tossing on a few episodes of One Piece when I get home then :D

@AncientBoi, Yeah, believe you can do PSP games as well. But a Pi5 is much powerful in comparison.

Not sure about other models of Pi4 but the Pi 4 B with 8GBs OCed to 2Ghz handles PSP really great except like 1 game I found and it is playable it just looks bad lol Motor Storm Arctic something or other.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Other games I can have turned up to like 2X and all kinds of enhancements, Motorstorm hmmm nope 1X and no enhancements lol

I will admit that one does seem more interesting than the usual Ambernic ones, and I already liked those.

    I dread the price point.

This looks like one of their premium models, so... $150 :glare:

    To me that seems reasonable.

I mean since basically all the games are errmmm free lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
yes that's the expensive part lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean sure it's flexible and stuff but so is uremum but it's fiddly.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150
