So, Nintendo will stop Wii U production by the end of the year, and Nintendo releases FW updates with really long delays.
(time between 5.3.2 and 5.4.0 about 6-7 months) We know Nintendo, they are slow in everything.
So... Why not releasing the 5.5.X kernel exploit, and make everyone happy?
No, not only piracy lovers, there are many developers that needs the exploit for their homebrew.

Just discussion no flame pls no h8

It doesn't mean to say they'll stop firmware development for the next year following. ;)

i believe nintendo have all but given up on the wiiu....a good hack released for 5.5.+. devices. i don't think nintendo wd even bother pursuing it...The bell tolls i'm afraid guys...Concerning zelda U....we may get a watered down version that kinda pushes the wiiu, but the big zelda u release will be held to help sell the new nx.....only my opinion....wd love to hear yours????

Wasn't Wii version 4.3 released way before the Wii U's release? So it sounds probable.
wasn't 4.3 nintendos last attempt to stop the hackers....failed miserably and i say they tend to just give up on machines rather than chase a dying cause.....

Yeah, letterbomb was the final exploit for the Wii to be released, and allowed 4.3 users to install the homebrew channel without any exploit game.
Luckily, Nintendo were smart enough to patch that out in the Wii U's vWii. ;)

Doesn't mean they're not still making games and the end of 2016 is a ways off from now.

Don't expect the AP crowd to be moved by this news at all.

Not smart enough to patch the remaining save exploits.

I feel nintendo dropping the wii u will mean the homebrew community will be very active because they will make expliots for the last firmware which everyone will update to and everyone will have homebrew that nintendo will never patch. I can't wait for my wii u to have retroarch and play playstation games, n64 games, and play doom, pirate video games... Oh sorry i was daydreaming online.

Yeah... >.>
I did actually run bathaxx through my vWii once. I find it ridiculous how they didn't fix all of those... I'm not complaining though. :D
Good thing i have all the lego games so i can hack vwii to and run gamecube backups, wii backups, other good wii homebrew... sorry online daydreaming again.

Ninty will probably have a side-team still focusing on Wii U development, I would've thought...
No, Paper Mario Color Splash is the latest game they are developing for Wii U, and that's coming from Inteligent System, all other team must be working on NX already including Zelda team, Zelda U will be cross platform probably.

I'm just glad there isn't full-scale piracy with functioning usb iso... wud-loaders yet. So they can't blame "rampant piracy" as they always do (and as we all know it's bogus but the mainstream media prints it anyway, so mr. jones -while getting a haircut- will say "yeah that nintendo game thingie, the damn internet pirates killed that! says so right in that newspaper there!)
