Hacking Playstation TV Hacking Questions

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I've been thinking about pulling the trigger on a Playstation TV for a while now since I'm not particularly happy with the output of my PSP on my TV (plus there are a handful of Vita games I want to play). My main concern is whether or not I can successfully hack the PSTV or if it's too late in the game. Specifically:

1. If I buy a NIB PSTV will it come with firmware 3.20 or is it possible it will come with something newer?

2. I've read that you need to activate the PSTV before you can play games on it, and activating it using the normal method will automatically update the firmware. Is there still a way around this?

3. I hear TN-X is the latest and greatest hack to use. Can I play PSP isos with this or is it mostly a PSX emulator (I already have a modded PSX so that's not as useful to me)?

4. Assuming the answer to the above three questions is Yes, are the exploitable games needed to install TN-X still available?

5. What are the limitations on using something like TN-X or ARK? Will it play every PSP and PSX ISO flawlessly (even those not officially supported on the PSTV) or is it more hit and miss than that? I see that several PSP games I'm interested in (Final Fantasy III, IV, Dracula X Chronicles, etc.) aren't supported.

I have a PS3 and a PSP at my disposal if either or those will help with the hacking.

Vita noob here, but I might be able to answer some of your questions

1. Yeah it's possible. I literally just bought one couple of weeks ago and it came with 3.01 (asian version though)
2. Download your games using PS3 (assuming it's in latest FW or somehow can access PSN) and copy your games to vita
3. Not so sure but I think both are possible

Do you have to re-mod the Playstation TV with a game like Patapon each time you boot? If so is there a way to automate the process with a bubble?

In 2016 is there still no way to play Vita backups?

Is there a way to get JP games on to a USA system or access the JP store? I'd like to play some Japan only releases.

If PSP games look ugly on your Playstation TV

Turn down the sharpness, turn down the brightness just a little, and raise the color and if you have a color setting like "cool or warm", set the color temperature to warm. (bought a psp vita and updated it to 3.55 and hacked it before the firmware was updated by sony, just because I read you didn't need a ps3. had a 360 but was not really pleased with the ps3 or xbox360, since they were the "ring of death consoles"). I intend to eventually buy another psp vita so I can hack it on a lower firmware with the ps3, if "tnx" never comes out for 3.5x firmwares, realistically, I don't intend to pay more than 60$ for a ps3 that actually works, and I wouldn't even consider a purchase until maybe the next 2 years pass, when sony discontinues its online support for the system, then the concole's price will drop like a rocket.

60$ for a ps3 that actually works

My local second-hand stores are selling used-and-working PS3s for around £70. But that's probably a bit of a higher value in US dollars, I suppose.

The price will drop, considering its a "Ring of Death" console. I actually tried replacing the "black heat sink paste" with "Arctic Silver" for the heat sinks in the xbox 360, and the unit still produced the ring of death. The ultimate cause of the problem was faulty design, "black heat sink paste" is really just a myth.

Gamestop prohibited the buy back of ps2 and xbox1 games and systems, as apart of a consumer experiment. There not really important as a business, since they have began "phase out" policies facing closure, but theres enough of a pull in the video game market, to plummet the prices of those consoles further. "Consumer Confidence" in the product of the "ring of death consoles", will simply plummet once the online services are cut. The way the ps2 and xbox1 console have been dismissed because of their more reliable hardware (going on 10 years and working great for the majority of users), that was really the motivator for the quick turnarounds to the next generation of ps4 and xboxone.

In about a year, maybe not even two, I should really be able to buy a working ps3 for less than 60$. Its not a priority at all, but the only other alternative to playing ps1 backups on a tv outside of the pc and xbox1 is playstation tv and it so far needs a ps3 once again to do that for tnx and the lower firmware, I'll eventually get to it, no big deal though.

@protivakid: I'm guessing your asking about the PSP part, so:

No, after rebooting the system, the PSP bubble will remain in the system.
However, you might need to restore the backup of the explited game back to the PSTV if your PSP bubble exploit gets somehow corrupted and the PSTV refuses to run the PSP mode.
If happened to me a few times, specially by sending files over FTP...
Automated way? not that I know of.

Anyways, keep a backup of the exploited game at hand in the PC (with the exploit already applied) so that when you face this issue, just restore the backup with QCMA and you're done.
Even between reboots (and current cut-offs) the system will remain with the PSP mode hacked.

Backups? No, not yet, and no light in the end of the tunnel for that, Im affraid...

Japanese games to US system? Cartridge: yes. System is region-free. Downloaded? Only demos. And you have to use the PKG installer, OR, use the memory card hack to transfer from one system to another. Bought ones? Don't know. But since you can't access the store without updating...
Only way is to, for example, have a JP PSN account, access using that account to the store using a PS3, and transfer the content from said PS3 to the PSTV/Vita using the same account.
That way, you can use VitaUpdateBLocker to block the update request, and keep your PSTV/Vita in low firmware, while transfering the games from the PS3 to the system.
