Exactly. If anything the goal is to surpass BootMii rather than just be "like" it. BootMii was also envisioned as eventually spawning its own homebrew ecosystem, but I guess nobody liked working with MINI or something so it didn't really take off. But perhaps A9LH can fulfill that dream.

And also we have very capable people that are willing to do cool things with this, and they'll most likely going to release :D

On that note, I'm pretty sure I only ever saw one native BootMii application aside from the Hackmii Installer itself. It was some hacky waninkoko thing called cboot2, which I think was used to boot a WAD manager to remove the even more hacky cIOSCORP stuff after some people bricked themselves without a NAND backup.

Brings back memories lol

Please correct me if I'm wrong because it's been years since I touched my modified Wii, but did BootMii advance to the point that it would be possible to restore the system even without a backup? And would that (restoring w/o a backup) ever be possible with A9LH on the 3DS?

So long as you'd previously dumped your console's keys via BootMii, it was possible to decrypt someone else's NAND, reencrypt it with your own keys, then flash it to your console.

I don't think the same works with the 3DS though since a number of keys are not known.

I did not touch it since years but if I remember correctly, we could install BootMii as IOS or boot2. It allowed NAND decryption/re-encryption and then installation IF installed in Boot2.

A9LH make it possible because we boot A9LH before the system. If you brick the sysnand, you boot to Decrypt9 and just restore a nand backup.

just noob question here: so everytime dark_samus have an update, we need to recompile again a9lh with the otp?
Nope, just clone the repo or do a git pull, type "make stage2" put the resulting stage0x5C000.bin file on your SD card and use the updater I posted to install it :)

Is there another thread with this information. This one is a little hard to follow and the op is full of technical information but no links to downloads, updates or really anything.

Hey, if we use a bootmanager and direct to your updater as a path in a folder, would we put the stage update bin in the root or the same directory as the updater payload?

i dont know why, but 3ds turn off if no sd card inserted is not working, but screen init is working fine. Unless the installer is not working properly

Well, after talking a bit with the person who made it (I didn't, but the person who did wants to remain anonymous for the time being) you actually need to update the stage 1 payload as well, I'd recommend against doing so if you just want to enjoy arm9loaderhax for the time being, because there are several other changes in the works to do with stage 1 that you'll have to keep updating for each change on until it's complete, or you can just wait until it's complete and do it all in one go...

Ok cool. No problem. I will wait.. just wanted to know if it was an issue on my end or not.

I just went through the exact above process: Updated stage 2, didn't shut off without SD, saw the back-and-forth here, updated stage 1 via the *.3dsx file and yeah now it shuts off perfectly without the SD inserted. :P
