@daicon I will take a few pictures of my cards tonight. They look pretty much exactly like the picture that @gualala uploaded. High gloss on both sides, NFC built into the card.

Once I perfect the process and get my cost's down, I will probably sell them fully completed. But right now it's just in the prototyping phase.

@TiMeBoMb4u2 I look forward to seeing your work tonight!
Sell the cards alone or sell the cards with NFC tags in them? You can only legally do the former unless they haven't been flashed yet

I want to see these! You said that they costed $1.60 each right? If you don't mind me asking, where did you get them printed from? Or did you just print them from your own printer? Also, how did you get the NFC in the card? Did you just sandwich the NTAG between two pieces of paper/plastic?

I used these

The print process is the protoype. Initial process was printing directly onto the card. That didn't turn out well. Second process was using Inkjet sticker paper, and the finish didn't turn out well. The third process is currently going through durability tests. (my daughter is using them)

As promised, Mii Brawler, Mii Sword Fighter, and Mii Gunner.

Edit: Looking back at Sword Fighter, I might change the background text to be larger. I tried to make it like the real Amiibo box, but it just looks too small in this card orientation. What do you guys think? Also... "Swordfighter" (one word) or "Sword Fighter" (Two Words), for the name at the top? Boxart for different countries varies.

Edit: Increased the size of the larger lettering, and added a second Swordfighter, with the smaller name as a single word.

For U.S. English its Sword Fighter so you're good. Also, Ryu and Roy .bin have been added to the drive, along with these sweet new cards! You rock bro!

Edit:

Here's a picture of the new cards vs the old process. The old process "matte" finish, the ink would rub off with continued finger sweat. The new process, the Mario in particular, has been played with all day by a 5 year old girl. Sweaty hands.

Also, you can see that the color, is far far better on a gloss finish. I can make it even glossier and more smooth, but for now I will stop here. Now to use all 50 of my tags...

Hey, @TiMeBoMb4u2, I have a request. You see there's Robin and Corrin as "dual sex" characters. Based on this image: 250px-Robin_SSB4.png And this image:corrin_wallpaper___ssb_for_3ds___wii_u_by_djari1080-d9ki2jr.jpg Do you think we can make cards that feature BOTH of them on it at the same time? Currently I have two images for both characters but there is only one .bin for them to share. (maybe that will change in the future)

Also, how goes the progress with the 3 marios?

Actually, according to the Toys 'R' Us website, the little name is "Mii SWORDFIGHTER".
After fixing the big background name, I'll just make both smaller names.

Edit: I made the Swordfighter changes and added them to my previous post.

Just curious... What do your ".bin" files actually represent? Are they just placeholders that you made?

My template was coming along nicely, but @CompC's template was quite different. So, I'm merging my ideas into his template design, to keep the cards consistent.

I still haven't been able to find a nice HQ render of Gold and Silver Marios. My Guess: Nintendo didn't release official artwork for these, since the boxart uses the colored Mario image. This guy has created some nice HQ unofficial renders, but none of which are in the happy waving pose of the Amiibo. If you wouldn't mind attempting to contact him, to see if he would render the official pose, I will continue working on the template.

I think even selling the cards alone would be illegal, since they're copyrighted characters. Just a heads up before Nintendo swoops in with a C&D or lawsuit.

Well, I did my best to converge CompC's template and the one I was modifying. The cards below are the result. They are slightly different from CompC's, but my template, although more complicated, gives me more control over certain colors and objects. I won't be offended, if people prefer CompC's, but I will continue to develop the Super Mario Series with this look...
Edit: Fixed Toad (Added Shadow)

Looks perfect to me. Not really asking for perfection here lol. I think regular Mario in front of gold and silver will work fine too. That's what Nintendo did with their boxes, so why should we do anything different?

FYI, I like to be consistent with the actual boxes. The names at the top for Mario amiibos are either colored with a white glow (like what you used) or have an alternate style of white text with a black sharp stroke outline.

Mario and Toad both use the stroke style. Type the text in white, convert it to a shape, and add a black stroke with sharp edges to the shape. (A stroke added with a layer style will have soft rounded edges.) Check the alt Yoshi shape that's a hidden layer in my template.
