Good to hear:D
More people can now ascend to the A9LH master race:lol:

Or at least the OTP master race for now...

Well so far I'm stuck on the 2.1 peasant race :P Need that browser sysnand restore hack to be released (when it's ready for public).

Just want to add my success story in here as well. N3DSXL, went down to 2.1 okay, a9f.bin dumped at 256 bytes. 3DS would not boot with my 128GB card, nor would it recognize it after a clean format (FAT32). Had to use Nintendos provided 4GB one.

No hard mod, *phew*.
grrr.. Lol.

I really want to try this on my n3DS lol.
I already "soft-bricked" my 2DS doing this, but I was still able to obtain the OTP for it. Going to hardmod my 2DS soon so I can restore my NAND backup.

Half of my mind wants to do this on my n3DS (I'm planning on hardmodding that soon too), the other half doesn't want to take the risk right now :P Think you can update us on your progress once you're back on 9.2? Thanks!

How did you soft brick your 2DS after getting OTP? I take it you tried to upgrade from 2.1?

Sure, the devs are working on the browser sysnand restore option right now. Restoring a sysnand will be a better way to get back to 9.2 than trying to upgrade.

Yeah, tried upgrading with a gamecart to 7.1. It updated "fine", but upon reboot, nothing opens. None of the apps have banners, it won't even open another gamecart I have (which updates to 8.1). So I'm stuck for now until I hardmod it.

See mate, this is why you use a cart that upgrades from 4.x-6.x (although 6.x would be better in your case.)
@Plailect needs to make this clearer in his guide, since two people have bricked from upgrading 2.x -> 7.x+.

Why is this, anyway? Something about the 7x keys?
I think so, but I'll need an expert to check on that.
Is there a specific reason for this?
From what I've seen, these are the versions that cause the least sysnand bricks (at least in my experience.) His choice though.

Would have been great to know, but I'm not too fussed about it. I'm going to hardmod it soon.

Nice so Pokemon x or y with 6.x on it should be fine for upgrading then on o3ds

Suppose to be, but I'd honestly just hold off a few more hours as whenever the decrypt9 on 2.1 hack goes public we can all just restore our sysnand backups. Still some risk I guess as we're writing to sysnand, but cleaner than going through an upgrade process, to then run a sysnand backup anyway.

Yeah, I'll probably consider risking my n3DS once that option's available.

Against all sane advice I decided to downgrade my 2DS anyway.
a9f.bin has been obtained and everything went fine. Now I just upgrade to 6.1.0 with Pokemon Y, restore my NAND backup and wait for the payloads.
So with that, I can confirm the current method works and the 2.1.0-4E package is perfectly valid.
I would still highly advise not trying this until a safer method is concocted, though. It's really nerve-wracking.

I'm now part of the Arm9loaderhax club! :D

I did all that without Cubic Ninja or a retail cart. Entirely through spiderhax was how I got OTP and restored 9.2 sysnand. The arm9loaderhax install went smoothly and it boots the arm9loaderhax.bin file payload I had prepared for it on my SD card. :D

Old 3ds great work. Is it private your a9lh.bin?

Sorry. Wasn't aware of your jingle idea when I uploaded that. :(

As for the payload I'm using. It's private right now yes. It was given to me by someone who instructed me not to make it public. So for the moment I won't be sharing the payload I'm using.
