Would it be safer (from a legal standpoint) if I uploaded .zips with textures as opposed to .tex or .bch files?

As weird as this question is you have no idea how bad my luck is! If something went down I'd be caught in it.

That's really cool! What program did you use to make it?
I used Photoshop to make the original as well as the remake. The 3DS textures were too low resolution for me to be as meticulous with the retexture, to I used the color replacement tool.

How do I make my texture load up in game? I'm using cache.bin and it works for my music, but my Ganon texture won't show up. I've tried putting it in /saltysd/smash/data/model/fighter/ganon/c06 as well as /saltysd/smash/model/fighter/ganon/c06
I've reran the script that genorates the cache.bin each time I've added a new file too.

Well I modeled swap something but it didn't go as intended but still funny, plus it crashed after a minute

You forgot a folder

saltysd/smash/model/fighter/ganon/BODY/c06

Still waiting on someone with some programming knowledge to finally give us a real editor for 3ds. Rebirth is a great program but the dev is for some reason adamant that it will never be an editor, and even though the old version works its... Very buggy.

As far as model swapping goes, I think I figured out the issue. Using Chrom over Marth as an example, Marth's base model has 44 nodes.
Chrom only has 21. Since Chrom's model still uses on Marth's motion data, it'll crash whenever said data references a node that Chrom doesnt have.

Im messing around with stuff now and seeing if I can match up Chrom and Marth's skeleton data, I'll let you guys know if I get anywhere

What path do you use to add music to the game? I tried adding my own but it didn't work.

Metals usually don't crash the game unless you use a metal box, that's how it was in Brawl at least.

If it has no metal materials it will display just as you described, however, if the metals aren't made properly it will crash.
Metals look like they work somewhat differently here than in Brawl. Brawl just uses materials with references but here each character has an individual metal texture
actually in brawl it just shows the the character with out the metal
You're right, no metals won't crash, but improper metals will.
