So I have a Japanese N3DS sysnand 9.1 using Gateway, and it's been a while since I updated emunand. I heard a lot of people said that Gateway 3.7.1 still supports fw 10.5 (the latest), so I decided to update my emunand to 10.5 last night. The thing is that, whenever I booted into GW mode, the fw number in the setting never showed any difference (no GW icon before it) so I never knew if I'm in emunand or sysnand. But since emunand still worked fine, I thought it was just an error, so I went ahead and update fw. But after it was completed, I find out that the whole sysnand was updated as well. I couldn't boot into GW mode by going into DS mode anymore. I don't know if it's because of the fw error in the setting, or because GW still hasn't supported emunand 10.5 like people said. Now I don't know what to do. :(

Thanks. So I knew about that link, but when I read it, it's like you need to install something before you can downgrade it (ironhax or something like that). But since my O3DS hasn't installed anything at all (like, nothing. I have a GW cart for the N3DS but that's it), I would like to know a step-by-step guide on what to do so I know I don't screw up anything.
Do you have Telegram? I can help you if you want,.

You need Homebrew Launcher first, for that, you need to put this in your sd uncompressed:

https://smealum.github.io/ninjhax2/starter.zip

reset the browser configuration.
go to:

http://yls8.mtheall.com/sliderhax.php

in your 3DS browser.
(That can need some attempts to make it work, usually does not work at frist try)

Zoom and click as right as you can in the slider.

After that, you only need to go menuhax manager, click install.

Now, you can follow the other tutorial.

For enter again to homebrew launcher, you'll only need to boot your 3DS holding L

Thank you! Yay, I downgraged it successfully!

But the thing is, whenever I got my SD card in the slot, when I reboot the 3ds, the screen is completely black...

Is there anyway to fix this?

You need to put your SD inside 3DS after boot and change the 3DS Theme for unistall Menuhax, after changing theme, you can install Menuhax again from browser and autoboot to Gateway or other CFW

How do I do that? Is there no way to keep it?

If you want to still use gateway, I recommend you to:

1.- Change your current Theme for unistalling menuhax (and fix the blackscreen boot)
2.- Install Menuhax again, this time, click configure, type 2, hold R and touch touchscreen, this will made homebrew launcher to boot without pressing any key, and if you hold R you'll go to sysnand.
3.- Now, you can change the boot.3dsx of SD root to gateway 3dsx. For that rename GW.3dsx to boot.3dsx and replace it.
4.- Don't forget to have Launcher.dat too in SD root.
5.- Now, when you boot 3DS holding L, you'll go into Gateway Menu, if you don't click anything, it'll go to emunand (if available) or sysnand with GW patchs, and if you press R, you'll enter to sysnand normally without any patch of any type.

Now, you have 3DS with autobooting to gateway.

Thank you! You guys are amazing~

So I have successfully set up GW, but I have some questions: How do I install out of region DLC .cia with GW? I heard it's region free but when I tried to install it with BBM, it was installed but not recognized in game (DLC don't show up in game).

Also, how do I transfer save from the SD card of my Japanese N3DS to the SD card of my O3DS? I copied and pasted them, but they seemed to not work....

Thank you again!~

Pretty sure you must install the right DLC for your version of the game.

Also, if you're talking about the encrypted save files on your SD card of your Jap one, then you're screwed. Those are locked to your Jap system and needs that system to decrypt them. :/

If you did make a NAND Backup of your Jap system you can send it to someone who'll install a hardmod for you, then restore that backup and your console will be back on the appropriate firmware.
