Can't afford SSD so only the HDD.

Need some advise before picking a HDD for the Wii U

So how many TB does Wii U support? Can I use 1 for both Wii U and vMii or I need 2 separate one? What is the popular HDD for Wii U (brand, model)?

The WiiU can handle at least 2TB.
WiiU mode uses it's own HDD formatting type that is incompatible with vWii, so you'll need 2 drives [source needed]
You can use pretty much any USB drive you want, though one with a y-cable is recommended. Nintendo also has recommendations,(see link on right) but I wouldn't bet on them being any better than other drives.

Ah I see why there people wanting Wii to be able to run in Wii U mode now (in the IOSU exploit thread).

Wii U games seems very big. How about Wii. Is 500GB is enough or I need a much bigger? Is there a HDD enclosure box compatibility list for vWii part I plan to make use of my current old laptop hard drive with a HDD enclosure box.when I have my new laptop?

Depends on how many games you plan on "backing up". Personally, I find that 100GB is plenty for me, but I find that I only play a few games anyways. You many feel the need to have all the games! I am currently using an enclosure, a cheap one I found off NewEgg for <20 bucks, and it works with no issues. Just make sure you get one with a Y-Cable, or you will run into issues.

I don't need all the games (can't afford buying them all ). Just need one HDD enough to back up some Wii game disc I could find. I prefer the convenience of running as digital copies so I don't have to swap discs. Thanks for the info.

No Prob.
You'll find that most games only run you about 2GB on average,

you can use just about any hard drive enclosure and it should work. i have tried 6 of them and they all worked. I use a 128 gb Flash drive for wii u extra storage and a 160GB hdd for my wii

I have 1 Seagate Expasion 1Tb (external power) for wii u, and 1 Samsung M3 portable 1tb for vWii.
Both works fine, the M3 works fine even without a Y cable.
I would recomend you to get a unit with external power for Wii u, i had some problems with portable units even with Y cable during instalation of games.
Also a good unit (even not ssd) will make your games load quite fast.

One question. Can I use USB 2.0 for vWii? I saw that there is some 128GB USB going very cheap going very cheap from time to time? Does the vWii part cracked to be able to use USB loader?

My vWii unit is USB3.0 , I had one 2.0 before too, and if i'm not mistakem Wii U ports are 2.0. So no problem using a 2.0/3.0 USB unit if they are compatible (almost all 2.0 units). And yes, you can use USBloaders and Emulators on vWii, there's lots of guides here about SoftModding vWii.

Will this one work for vWii USB loader? http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-list...words=sandisk+128gb+flash+drive&condition=new

Does vWii supports SDXC card? Saw some 64GB SDXC card goes for $15 from time to time but didn't pick one because I heard Wii and vWii doesn't support back up loader from SDXC. Correct me if I am wrong.

It works. But in some rare cases there's some incompatibility with some loaders, then you need to test others loaders.
But almost 99.9% of the USB storage devices(flash drive, hdd, etc) that have usb 2.0 compatibility (almot all have it) will work fine.
Particularly i have tried around 15 or so different types of usb storage and all worked in my loaders (USBLoader GX and WiiFlow), from a good range of sizes from 1GB flash drives to a 1Tb external HDD (my current "resident" for vWii). I tested external cases for 2.5" hdd (notebook ones) and worked fine too.
