Hardware : New 3DS XL
Sysnand : 9.2.0-20U (Downgrade using SafeSysUpdater, Downgrade-Check OK), unlinked using Format System Memory
Emunand : 9.2.0-20U
CFW : Reinand 2.1
HBL : 2.5, using ninjhax, menuHax, BrowserHax, Launcher.cia

Question

1. Is it possible to upgrade Emunand using System Setting directly? since i haven't found the CIA for newer sysnand. Or is there another way to download the update?
2. Several games (my case is Layton vs Phoenix, Kirby Triple Deluxe) seems like slow, i need to use HANS to clock it up so no more lag. Is it because i was in emunand? or because of what?
3. Is it possible to use more than 1 CFW? i mean, RXtools have some dumping tools that needed for CIA making, NTR have region free so need not to see unwrap games again, ETC

well, that's it for now

thanks in advance

1. Always best to check here before updating, your CFW a may need to be updated first. But once you have the all clear, you're okay to update via system settings.

2. Slowdown in games shouldn't be related to emuNAND. However a fast SD card is recommended, as a slower card may increase loading times in-game. But that's just conjecture on my part.

3. All available CFWs share the same emuNAND format that Gateway introduced. So long as a CFW supports the latest system version, the loader you use to boot into emuNAND is interchangeable.

1. i use ReiNand 2.1 and i search that there's newer version (3.1 so far). how to update it? only replace the old one?

2. my case is not "loading" though... it's in-game performance, like when in the middle of conversation between layton and phoenix, while kirby sucking up the tree or more than 3 objects.... like drop framerate... HANS can fix it, but then my question is... means the clock is down by default or something? as a matter of fact, HANS also in MicroSD, so why?

3.May i know what does support New 3DS? since i kinda confuse and complicated to make sure which is works or not. @Marko76 , @Zidapi

Sorry for asking more, but because of this doubt, i want to make sure

Thanks in advance

For number 2, you can speed up your games using the overclock feature of NTR. Works quite well. I noticed that when throwing the fin boomerangs as Zora Link in Majoras Mask, the game would often lag really badly. But it doesn't lag at all while overclocking.

1. Yes, simply delete your old reinand files and put the new ones on your SD card. Make sure to keep the firmware.bin.

2. The new 3ds features a stronger cpu. Nintendo decided that the extra power is only to be used when the game supports it and otherwise limits the cpu speed to that of the old 3ds. What Hans does is it removes this limit which can result in better performance (or broken games).

3. Usually all cfw specify the supported firmwares and systems. But here is what I think I can remeber:

Reinand: New 3ds only fw9.2-10.4 (1)
Cakes: both fw9.2-10.4
rxTools: old 3ds fw9.2-10.4 / new 3ds fw9.2-9.5(?)
(1) There is a fork of reinand with old 3ds support.
Note: 1. Firmware versions are for emunand! Stay on 9.2!
2. Some people report having trouble with 10.5. I would stay away from that for now.

Cfw only live in ram (which is why they need to be applied on every boot) so you can have them all on your SD card and just boot up which ever you feel like using.
Also NTR is special in a way as it should be launched over another cfw.

You can update using settings or via sysupdater (there is a tutorial somewhere on gbatemp). I never had trouble updating that way on both the old and the new 3ds. However updating that way will always give you the newest version which might not be supported by your cfw yet (especially with the new 3ds). After updating remember to swap out your firmware.bin if necessary :)

1. Ok then, i'll try to upgrade to 10.3 first to make sure. Thanks @Krwn

2. Ummm... For the sake that we still on the same boat, I use New 3DS XL. Before downgrading (From 9.8.0-25U), i have played the same games (Layton Vs Phoenix Wright) without any drop framerate (using sky3ds, no HANS). after i downgrade to 9.2.0-20U, using the same game, same sky3ds, either sysnand or emunand mode, i can find this drop frame rate issue at the certain spot which is not happen in before downgrade. So.... Why? i do understand about newer engine in N3DS, more powerful and faster then O3DS, or it just my hardware got bricks?

3. ok, firmware.bin must be keep, Noted.

I rather enjoy a life of taking it easy. I haven't reached that life yet though.
BakerMan @ BakerMan: idk how hot of a take this is, but science as a subject sucks
