I am on 10.3 and can I still downgrade using safesysupdater. And if I get a soft brick can I still downgrade and install CFW. (I have a N3DS don't have cubic ninja or ocarina of time). Sorry for the scrub post
If you softbrick using sysupdater. You will be screwed without hardmod.I am on 10.3 and can I still downgrade using safesysupdater. And if I get a soft brick can I still downgrade and install CFW. (I have a N3DS don't have cubic ninja or ocarina of time). Sorry for the scrub post
Ok thanks also how do I hardmodIf you softbrick using sysupdater. You will be screwed without hardmod.
Because recovery will automatically install latest update from nintendo's server (10.4)
if your question is: if I am already bricked can I downgrade- no.
If your question is: Can I still downgrade on 10.3 with a CHANCE of bricking. - yes.
if you do everything correctly, you won't brick though.
I did nothing incorrectly and always got a soft brick because I didn't want to do a system format. Not everyone has had to, but I'm one of the unlucky ones.[...] if you do everything correctly, you won't brick though.
yeah you need to system format. so no, you didn't do it correctly lolI did nothing incorrectly and always got a soft brick because I didn't want to do a system format. Not everyone has had to, but I'm one of the unlucky ones.
Just because verification was good, don't mean the downgrade will complete. As advised, hardmod is the safest bet.I just successfully performed a downgrade to 9.2 on my n3ds (was on 10.3). I used SafeSysUpdater, verified the 'update' package, got the update 'hax' to run after many attempts, all cia's in the pack installed successfully, system froze at the 'rebooting in 10 seconds' message, rebooted manually - everything is working fine.
btw, I didn't do a system format, but I did use a freshly formatted sd - I kept my 'legit' one safe during the downgrade.
So, yes, you can still downgrade... but be careful, and make sure you verify your downgrade package.
I'll be leaving my emunand creation and cfw installation until tomorrow - my first experience with installing a cfw on my o3ds several months ago taught me to allow plenty of time for the procedure; double/triple-check everything and make back-ups of everything (multiple times) at regular intervals throughout the process.
As this will be my first time using ReiNAND rather than RXTools, as well as my first time with cfw on n3ds, I want to go into it prepared and alert... whereas, right now, I need some rest
https://gbatemp.net/threads/simple-guide-to-downgrading-your-3ds.407888/So what's the 'safest' way to downgrade a new3ds to 9.2? SafeSysUpdater? is there a guide on the process and how to do it with the least chance of messing up the process?
Safest way is to do a hardmod, make back up nand, than follow any of the downgrade guides. So what's the 'safest' way to downgrade a new3ds to 9.2? SafeSysUpdater? is there a guide on the process and how to do it with the least chance of messing up the process?
Its the nature of the exploit. Nothing can really be done about it. SafeSysUpdater just implemented checks so you dont fuck up.I see no rush....why not wait until someone has a better guide with a better success rate.

My downgrade story is practically identical to this.
Didn't format system.
Formatted sd card.
Froze on "rebooting in 10 seconds"
Rebooted and it booted up fine showing 9.2
Called it a day to set up CFW later.
Pretty much same story so far.
Then I set up CFW. Emunand9 runs fine and clones Sysnand (somehow) to newly made emunand partition.
I have not been able to make ANY CFW to boot. After multiple days of trying.
I think it may be an incomplete downgrade (Why does emunand9 work)
If you used a new SD card and didn't recreate the database it will give you that problem
