Hello I just bought PlayStation 1 with installed modchip. PlayStation is PAL SCPH-5552. I use SCART cable on my PAL TV. When I play burned on CD PAL games there is no problem. But when I play burned NTSC games the picture is black and white only. Is it possible some mod so NTSC games also be in color?

I have the same model PSX with modchip. My TV was a CRT Sony but it had two SCART sockets one displayed in colour when used while the other displayed in black and white.

Other than that, my suggestions are:

TV is too old
Buy a different SCART cable

Or you just need a TV that can handle the ntsc signal. So basically any tv that can handle 60mhz

You cant used the "original " scart cable. You need to get a "RGB" scart cable. Check on ebay or similar places. This will make your tv show color on NTSC games.

Have fun!

I just tried on 10+ years old CRT TV with no luck - still black and white. I will check ebay for RGB SCART cable as you say. I just checked ebey the all say REAL RGB SCART cable. Is that one genuine? http://www.ebay.com/itm/PLAYSTATION...924887?hash=item235e0f6e17:g:wJoAAOSw-W5UvpT3

Hi,

From what i could tell, yes. The easiest way is to see if the "scart" cable have all "pins" on scart. The normal RCA scarts only have a few pins. But some models have all "pins" but not all connected.

I would say that price of the above item is "ok" but i guess you could find it cheeper if you look arround.

Sorry to answer so late. I received the RGB SCART cable a week ago and it solved my problems. Thanks to all who helped.
