It would have the same effect as setting the second to 0.0.0.0 should TubeHaxx become unresponsive, so in the end it doesn't matter
Oh good. I've been kicking myself ever since my fiance went ahead and updated from 5.4.0 to 5.5.0 for Mario Maker and don't want to have to miss out again because of an accidental update. It's been months but it looks like if I'm lucky there'll be pong at least so that's something.

i would like to ask, i just bought a Wii U + Smash Bros Bundle and it is on 4.0.3E and i have the smash bros disk. To play the game do i need to update with the disk to play it?
P.S. i have to way for yoshi wolly world to arrive to update to 5.3.2E :)
P.S 2. I Just put my yoshi disk in and update via disk??? is there a possibility to accidentically update to a higher firmware without any internet connection? Does wii connect automatically to free wifi spots???
THX in advance :)

a) You don't need to update the firmware to play singleplayer and multiplayer on a game. However, online play is unavailable if you don't update. This doesn't matter with games like Smash or Yoshi's Woolly World.

b) Your Wii U can't automatically connect to a free Wi-Fi. You need to set up internet manually at all times.

c) I do not recommend updating. For 4.0.3, the hacks will be easily accessible very soon. They will be performed more easily than on 5.5.x.

d) If you're worried about auto-updating of the console, turn on Tubehax DNS. This will block Nintendo's update servers, causing you to remain on your current firmware.

e) Organize your spelling next time, please. :P

Yeah i was in a hurry to ask i mixed up my spelling LOL.
You suggest me to stay on 4.0.3E?
will loadiine be availiable for that firmware soon?
And one more question do you know if the Smash stack for Wii mode can be done with the Smash Bros Brawl Select edition disk?

I highly recommend you stay on 4.0.3. The hacks will be easier to perform, because there are more entrypoints for the userland exploits (noob translation: there are more flaws in your current firmware, so it's easier to exploit).

Loadiine will be released along with Hykem's IOSU exploit, which should come out this month. It currently is private, but will be released, that's for sure. I don't know much about its availability, sadly.

Lastly, to know more about Wii Mode and exploiting it, head on over to the vWii Modding thread. It explains how to exploit the vWii mode and even has a special something from Crediar. You should be able to do basic hacks, not sure about Smash Stack though.

edit: Smash Stack is functioning on Wii U's Wiimode. My OP was wrong. :P

Turns out you can perform Smash Stack on vWii. I'm not sure if your disk can perform it though. It's worth a shot, nothing bad can happen. To find out more, visit the wiki page for Smash Stack on Wiibrew.org.

I just don't know if they change something on the Select edition Smash brawl disk.
I just ask because i don't own it now, and don't want to buy it for nothing :P

If you're unsure, ask someone here, or just don't buy it at all. It's better to know what you're doing. :P
Yeah you're right.
By the way i just ordered Yoshis Wolly World to get to FW 5.3.2 to use loadiine after that i ll resell it.
I'll go to 5.3.2E since it is fully operational with loadiine plus Hyakem IOSU will be for 5.3.2 too right?

Yes, Hykem's IOSU exploit will work on all available firmware, including 5.5.1.

Be warned though. 5.3.2 enables automatic system updates, so set up Tubehax DNS right away. A guide for it is on the first page of this thread under "How do I block updates?"

Of course i will do that.
I saw i can self Host the exploit files, so i think i will set up a second router without any internet connection on it only for connection with my PC.
But i am not sure if my PC has internet connection will carry over to the second router and updates the Wii U.

Actually, @FoxMcloud5655 is trying to host the exploit files himself, for everyone to use! Ask him if he needs any help if you're interested in that. ;)

Hi.
I've seen a few posts regarding the reliability of that second DNS being 0.0.0.0 with Tubehax.
Can someone please confirm if it is ok or should we have the same IP address for both primary and secondary.

Thanks.
Wait I've been using tubehax DNS as both primary and secondary. Should I not do that?
Nobody has wanted to be the one to test it and be wrong, so we are making a couple assumptions with the recommended setup (TubeHax as primary and 0.0.0.0 as secondary).

The first thing we are unsure of, is what would happen if the TubeHax DNS went down and you had it for both primary and secondary. If primary fails, it goes to secondary (which is the same so it would fail too). If the Wii U defaults to Auto-Obtain DNS at that point, then you'd update. It's more likely that it would just not let you connect, but we are going for safety here... So we say put 0.0.0.0 for secondary. We are also making the assumption that 0.0.0.0 will just not let you connect to anything (including Nintendo's servers), providing a nice stop point if TubeHax fails.

So, 5.3.2 has a stable hack, 5.4.0 sort of does, 5.5.0 is about to have a hack and 5.5.1 is barely worked on, right? Or am I missing something?

My console updated to 5.5.1E and I just want to get an idea of when something might be available for it, if at all.

All I wanted to do was give my XCX character bigger boobs... And maybe give myself almost unlimited rewards tickets... And Battle Points... And boost affection...

Darnit you beat me to it :P

*sigh* I've tried all morning to get the compiler to install for this, but my Linux machine just won't take it. If someone could provide the COMPILED files and the .bin to push to the WiiU via the exploit, I will gladly host it.
Any progress so far?

Ah, thanks for clearing that up. Sorry if that was super easy info to find and I'm just blind.
