What do you ride/drive?

So do tempers drive? What do they drive and do they get enjoyment from driving??


Personally I enjoy riding motorcycles, got a CBF125 for the next few weeks but will be buying something else once I'm reimbursed for my destroyed moped (surprise, it wasn't my fault, but let's not go there!), so I thought I might look here for inspiration as to what I might try next AND make a thread so you can show off YOUR beloved crotch rockets and wheeled beasts~

A skateboard. If I am not on foot I am on that.
I can't be bothered with a car or motorbike for road use right now -- the cost and having to have another thing in life I have to fix puts me off. I have been debating the merits of getting a transit van though if I do, even if it will leave me as designated house mover and rescue van.
I do like motorbikes though, maybe I will head back down that path.

I put my shoulder out for a week when I tried the skateboard, dropped a half pipe and kicked it out in front of me, classic fail.

Once I pass my full car license I'm turning a suzuki carry into a cozy surf wagon and hitting the coast of Portugal~

Bikes are so fun though, gives me a massive sense of freedom.

Dropping in on a half pipe (assuming it was a half pipe and non a mini ramp, though even then...) is not so much jumping in at the deep end as much as trying for a double backflip off a waterfall as a means of learning to swim if you are not otherwise familiar with the thing.

I have never got the sense of freedom thing from a car/bike/whatever, I usually just get a sense of boredom. That said I have never lived in a place where two hours of walking could not get me somewhere I want to go to. I imagine it would be a different matter should I live somewhere where not being able to use some kind of motorised transport presents a real disadvantage.

It was silly, never having skated and taking on the pipe at the drop of a hat, it was a good painful laugh, been a surfer 2 years so assumed it's the same old deal as dropping in on a wave!

Well, I live in the countryside of Cornwall and carry a tent and sleeper bag. Camping up the moors in autumn for some magic times, riding about old military airfields is also fun!

Not a great assumption. From what I have seen doing other board sports (not sure about wakeboard) does seriously help it in no way confers basic ability in others. I think one of the most comedic things I have ever seen was watching a bunch of pretty decent skateboarders try to learn to stand on surfboards.

Ragging a crunch around a field is great fun, that we can certainly agree on. You are in a top place to do it as well, at least as far as the UK goes -- not done much of the south and none on a powered bike but mountain biking like an idiot around Bodmin moor and the northern parts of Cornwall as a teenager was no small amount of fun. Wales is probably the only better place and that is not exactly a long run from you.

But i do own/drive the same model but with darker windows in the back
- 6 years old
- Citroën Jumpy 2.0HDi
- 6 speed manual transmission
- 7 persons + driver (8 seats) (me, wife + 3 kids + when needed my wifes mother ( + wheelchair))
- towbar
- 2 sliding doors at the back (left and right)
- Bought it full option new

Mostly used for daily use to my work and holidays or long drives
(My wife is afraid to drive it)

My second car (Not actual picture of my car)

But it's the same model, different color but also with the roof windows
- 8 years old by now
- mostly daily used by my wife and for shopping and short drives
- Bought it full option new (including 2 sliding doors for the back)

5 speed manual (cus automatic is for little old grannies)
2 seater, FXCK YEAH ROADBOX!

105k KM (bought it at 93.4k)

Also, no rice added to it.
People that rice out (tune) their cars deserve to be shot.

But they provide so much amusement (and money when they get to fix the mistakes) to those that work in garages. I have no great love for the ones that ultimately do nothing or even go negative (lower your suspension and wonder why it handles and rides like shit... "but it looks cool") and you will not catch me uprating my vehicles just for fun* but if you are doing something useful to your car I find it a pretty harmless pastime.

*seemingly an extension of the "call me to make things work or find out why it fell over, call someone else if you want it to look pretty".

Actual engine upgrades etc I can fully understand.
But ricer bumpers and spoilers and what not.
Those are an complete eyesore.

It is hilarious tho that with me old Mazda, I could out ride many ricers.
Stupid fools only modified the outside and not the engine.
Honda V-shit and ricer Polo/Golfs, me Mazda ate them for breakfast!

Better then some fool who literally (I'm not making this up) fixed a fuel filter with zip-ties and normal rubber hosing in his fuel rail.
Car caught fire few days later.
Rare 1980's Peugot 205 (some rare special edition) with a grey-blueish metallic colour gone in just a few minutes.
That same bellend fixed lose hanging things in his car with sellotape.
Not to mention his seemingly "fantastic" welding skills....

He wanted to fix me Mazda once, told him I'd rather grab a chainsaw and start attacking me car meself.

Speaking of his car catching fire...
I haven't heard anything from him ever again after that happened.

Honda Civic....1.6.....black....2014....would take a picture but it raining outside , and dark, and not exactly a fukkin Ferrari anyway! Got a knock in it on the first weekend, culprit kindly drove off too, but no problems since then. Usually get a new motor every 3 or so years, had a Honda CR-V before this one, yeah I was one of those pricks! Citroen Picasso before that! As the kids have got older and just going to visit grandma no longer takes half an hour just to load the boot, I can thankfully go away from the big cars, hence the Civic. Might even go smaller still next time....

Agreed with FAST about lack of freedom though: I spent my entire teenage years (pre-test) buying car magazines, obsessing over them, couldn't wait to drive - some time after I got my license I can't overstate just how disappointed I was though. Any 'fun' driving I do is on Forza or GT! Dunno what to blame, over zealous laws, or the M62....
