Hi all! I successfully downgraded my O3DS XL from 9.7 to 9.2. I have a Gateway 3DS and would now like to set up EmuNAND. I'm aware that this will format my SD card, so I made a backup prior to downgrading. I'm an Ambassador and would like to continue playing my Ambassador Programs games on SysNAND, as I know this isn't possible on EmuNAND. As I won't be able to access the eShop on 9.2 SysNAND to re-download my Ambassador games, would it be possible to copy them from my SD card backup and put them on my newly formatted card? Thanks in advance!

Yes if you just copy back everything after it formats the sd card your games will show up.
Its an important step

As my backup was made whilst on 9.7, will there be any conflicts?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I'm not really interested in anything other than my Ambassador games from that backup, so locating them specifically would be ideal, but I haven't a clue where to look.

But I play my (legit) ambassador games on my EmuNAND along with some legit DSiWare and injected GBA games.

For the location of the Ambassador games, go to http://www.3dsdb.com/ and search for the titleid of the games you want to backup. For example Metroid Fusion title id is 0004000000075600. Hence, the location of the game will be in SD:\Nintendo 3DS\<id0>\<id1>\title\00040000\00075600

I meant will my SD card backup from 9.7 cause any conflicts with 9.2?

How did you go about getting them to work? I was under the impression that it wasn't possible (legitimately)

It works normally if nands are linked, if unlinked, they need to be installed on sysnand for the emunand version to work, this applies for both legit and pirated GBA games (though for pirated GBA games you need to patch the AGB_FIRM). NES Ambassador games work normally on Emunand.

Also, AFAIK, the 3DS uses the Sysnand installed game for the save file even if running from Emunand, so you need to backup your ambassador games anyways.

I'm really confused as to how to restore my SD card backup. I read that instead of booting into Gateway Mode after setting up EmuNAND, you should immediately turn your 3DS off, copy your original backup to your SD card, then turn it back on. This apparently eliminates the creation of new 'HOME Menu management information.' The thing I don't get is, if I decide to separate SysNAND and EmuNAND, won't my original SD card backup become unrecognisable after formatting SysNAND?

Yeah if you want to unlink your NANDs, the NAND you format won't recognize the backup you did. If you say you want to keep your Ambassador games on your Sysnand then you should format your Emunand instead, so the Emunand gets a new id0 access to the SD card and Sysnand keeps the one you have now.

How do you install them on SysNAND?
The same way you install them on Emunand, 'cept you boot into Sysnand when

If I format my EmuNAND instead of SysNAND, won't I run into trouble with my NNID?! Also, won't accessing the eShop to download my Ambassador games on SysNAND force me to update?!

Errr... not that I know of, I mean, formatting sysnand or emunand would both result in your NNID to "unlink" in Nintendo's servers, you just have to link it again. As far as I know..

Also, won't accessing the eShop to download my Ambassador games on SysNAND force me to update?!
That's the point on formatting EmuNAND, so you can keep using the ambassador games you already downloaded. Otherwise you can just install them using FBI but they will stop being legit and you will need to run a CFW to play them.

Thanks for all your help Garro! So just to clarify, legitimate Ambassador GBA games work on an unlinked EmuNAND in both Gateway and Classic mode, if the same games are installed on SysNAND?!

Yeah, if running from Emunand they need to be installed in Sysnand, that's because when booting GBA/DSiWare the 3DS switch the firmware it's using (to AGB_FIRM), which count like a soft reset, thus switching back to Sysnand. Having the game on the Emunand is like a shortcut to a program in Windows.

And yeah I THINK they also work on Gateway Classic only if they are legit, but actually I'm not sure if it works, I think pirated GBA games doesn't work in Gateway, unlike RxTools.

Also, I doubt this is needed for legit Ambassador games but you miiiiight need to patch agb_firm, this is needed at least for pirated GBA games.

Just tested Mario Kart: Super Circuit on EmuNAND in both Gateway and Classic mode. I get a black screen in both :(

I am having the exact same problem. Downgraded from 10.3 to 9.2 and I cannot play ambassador GBA games. It tells me to redownload from the eshop. All other CIAs work fine. Help!

my suggestion... use FunkyCIA and make legit cias of your gba games. i did it :)
you can dump your tickets from sys or emunand. it doesn't matter.
i forgot to get some of the gba games so i went to eshop on my emunand to download the rest, built a legit cia and installed on my sysnand :)
