Remove hidden files? What do you mean?
view here
Downgrade success!

System: o3DS XL

Former FW: 10.3.0-28U

Current FW: 9.2.0-20U

Entry point used: Menuhax

I Initially failed at least 50 times trying to downgrade. But another mac user in this thread pointed out that macs created a lot of junk files in the updates folder. So, I opened up CTRXplorer, and, sure enough, there were 126 junk files that all prepended with "._"

So if you used a mac to transfer your cia files to your sd, open up CTRxplorer (or any other file browser) and delete every file in the updates folder that starts with "._" DO NOT DELETE ANY OTHER CIA FILES, ONLY FILES MARKED WITH "._"

After I deleted those files, I successfully downgraded (seemingly anyways) to 9.2, ON MY FIRST TRY!

I successfully downgraded to 9.2.0-20U. However, when I try to play super smash bros 3ds with the cartridge, it loads up the 3ds logo and then goes to a black screen. any help would be appreciated.

so i'm on an old 3ds xl. since ktm was out of question decided to do this method now before its too late. i assumed me being on an old 3ds xl would've made things easier, but i'm wrong.

i've probably repeated step 9 (Bite your fingernails in suspense. If everything goes correct...) a few dozen times already.

i've been able to get past and allow the cia files to write 3 separate occasions, but my system has soft-bricked every time.

specs:
3ds type - old 3ds xl
original firmware - 9.9.26U
firmware been trying to downgrade - 10.3.28U
type of entry point - menuhax 2.1

i even tried using a fresh new fat32 formatted sd card with the necessary files.
i really rather not do a system restore because i've worked really hard on my mii plaza
(unless there's a method to backup/restore that data on 10.3 firmware?)

probably'll keep trying a couple hundred more times before i give in lol.

SysUpdater is not reading .cia files. Can't downgrade.
Files are on /updates right at the root of my microSD. What seems to be the problem?

On N3DS 10.3-23U using OoTHax.

Specific error information:

"Getting CIA file informations...

titleException:
main.cpp:154: Result 0xD900182F
Failed to get CIA file info!"
keep trying it took many tries for persons downgrading on N3DS

not sure which one is in the first post, but yes go with that one. Good Luck ;)
Ended up comparing the hashes for both, they're the same version! Thank you :)

EDIT: SysUpdater keeps just giving me a blank screen. Is that a common issue?

That person used a Mac to transfer all of his files to 3DS, I'm using Windows to transfer files. I hadn't seen any hidden files before, is CTRxplorer an app for PC or something?

I wouldn't delete any files from windows. I'm a mac user exclusively at the moment, so I wouldn't know anything about windows hidden files. If you're getting errors, keep trying. If it still doesn't work, get help from a windows user.

BTW, CTRXplorer is a 3ds app file explorer. Link here

What exploit are you using it through? If you are using menuhax to load into homebrew, try doing it through browserhax.

I figured out it was just sysupdater not starting properly. Now I keep getting that annoying Failed to get CIA info error, so I'm just retrying constantly. I'm using menuhax, browserhax is throwing errors and won't load on my 3ds.

Its finally working .. green "installed" are appearing under every CIA file name... My last actions were: 1. Access via Cubic Ninja 2. Entered SysUpdater 3 Received the "Failed to get file info" error 4. Pressed L + R + DOWN +B 4. Brought me back to HBL and I accessed ftpony thing.. then exited out with B 5. Then accessed sysUpdater and this time it worked... YAY!! Tried this exact method a few times. ..... Now I have a black screen... will wait 5 min then forcedully shut it down and see what happened. hopefully all is well....

Successfully downgraded o3ds, although I was stuck on a black screen for awhile.
Did you forcefully power it down or did it eventually show something?
