You only need wifi to set it up. Once you've got homebrew, you no longer need it. Also, there are ways of getting homebrew without connecting to wifi (e.g. Cubic Ninja).

True that. Sorry, i misunderstood the original question as initial boot rather than 'after' / ongoing boot
