Have you been able to successfully downgrade your 3DS/2DS?

Alright, I got a question here that's a bit different than most. I'm using the known good 9.2 package, MD5-checked and extracted/transferred with windows. I'm able to get the downgrade started, and the cia's installing with the latest julian downgrader. However, after 41 installed cias, native firm installs, and the reboot pops up. After rebooting I always get a soft brick (even removing the SD doesn't help).

I'm able to use recovery mode and jump back up to 10.3.

I'm on a US N3DS. Help? Has anyone had upwards of 8-9 soft bricks and finally got it working? What should I do?

I've tried with Menuhax and Browserhax so far. Said that in my earlier post, but should have included it here too.

I did mean 9.2, sorry. I'm half asleep here, and edited that into my post while you were replying. The only thing I haven't tried out of what you're listing there is removing everything from the SD card but the essentials. I put them back on after I formatted it previously. I'll try a couple other entry points, and if those don't work, I'll try trimming the SD card down too. No harm in giving it a shot. Thanks for pointing that one out, I didn't think of it.

good luck bro. I have yet to try downgrading my n3ds, instead I've just read every freaking page of this thread to help me fall asleep at night :)

Are expecting a new downgrade method to be released soon?

EDIT: holy shit its happening

EDIT: well hello there 9.2

Here is my what I can add to this thread:

- Ninjhax over Menuhax if you can
- If you get the 0xD900182f error, don't power the 3DS off, press L+R+Down+B instead to return to the homebrew launcher, this was a gamechanger for me

Alright so I'm using browserhax, update 10.3.0-28U, old 3ds xl, I have all the files needed for the downgrade (the update cia files for 9.2 that is) and whenever I boot sysupdater, i can't get past #2 and I get an error that states: "can't force threads to core 1 failure :(" My 3ds does not brick or mess up afterwards since I can simply reboot it, but it does this every time. Does anyone know what may be wrong with it??
can anyone help?? ;c

Holy crap! It worked! I tried with sliderhax but it kept freezing so I tried menuhax and it worked flawlessly! :D

i have two simple (maybe stupid)questions, and after reading a page or 20 cant find it .

1 : the CIA files are all for the 3DS , does they also work for the 2DS ?
2 : you have Old 3DS CIA files and New 3DS files, does the 2DS Always have to use the OLD 3ds files ? or are there also 2DS that need N3DS files ?

Tnx

AFAIK 2DS uses old 3ds files as it basically is an O3DS.

Ya 2ds uses o3ds FW in all cases.

Tried 5 times and had a soft brick every time. I had to format my 3DS (erases everything, makes save data useless) and then it worked on the 6th try. I was able to backup the saves that I cared about with svdt before formatting. After I had rxTools installed I was able to install the .cia files of every game I backed up the save for and restored the saves with SaveDataFiler (installed via .cia).

You end up having to format the 3DS in order to unlink your sysNAND from the emuNAND, anyway. There may be some other way, but I'm very new to 3DS hacking. Just saying what I ended up doing.

Were you able to reconnect your NNID? What's the status of it? As for unlinking, I'm one of those horrible people who like to keep their NANDs linked.

I never tried. I don't see the point of connecting the NNID. Does anything not work if you don't connect?

Guys I really need help with this. Anyone know what's going on???

ok so here we go. I've been trying off and on for 8 hours. I know it's just luck, but this is what I did.

after trying with browerhax all day, I downloaded Ironfall (from old eshop) and setup Ironhax. I did end up formatting sd card, then moving everything back on.

I booted ironhax, then I hit "Y" in HB menu. then hit cancel. Did it one more time and hit cancel. Then opened ftbrony and closed.

After doing that 3 times and getting stuck at "press Y" it finally worked.

here it is after I grabbed my phone just to show how long it takes. Thanks to all the devs!! I never thought the day would come for downgrading!

I have the same problem another person said - when I click Y to downgrade, it flashes something on the screen really quickly then puts me back on the homebrew channel.

The message that flashes reads something like "terminate...throwing..."

Never mind my other posts! I installed menhuhax and sysupdater worked! I recommend using that instead of browserhax. Good luck to everyone!!

Nevermind here either! Installing menuhax and using the sysupdate app from it did the trick!

Downgrade works with 1 try on my girlfriends o3ds (sysnand 10.1)

Steps:
-reinstall ninjhax 2.5 (with wifi on)
-go on ninjhax (wifi is still on)
-go on sysupdater
-press Y

My theory: on my 3ds it only worked if I turn the wifi on before I launch any hax or going to Sysupdater. Hope it works on anyone. Its the second console where I tried it. On my 3ds first, I tried more than 100 times. I used menuhax (o3ds - sysnand 9.8 - menuhax 2.1) and tried it out with "first go to ftp 3ds, press B and laumch sysupdater" it won't work at me anytime. So I tried my options out and it worked already :)

My O3ds steps:

-start 3ds with menuhax (2.1)
-On menuhax boot screen turn wifi on
-go on every ftp 3ds app
-press B
-go down (or up) to sysupdater
-wait till the drop down is still standing on sysupdater
-launch it

(Wifi was still turned on on this steps)

Good luck :)
