If you are not using kodi (formerly xbmc) in a local home theater setup, you are not using the right software. Plex/Roku etc do not compare with the capabilities that kodi has.

I steam 3D movies just fine in my home along with other 1080p videos, and I can stream them to my remote devices anywhere in the world. But I'll be honest I've never bothered with xbmc/kodi and it's convoluted setup process and configuration to really unlock it's "potential". When it comes to some technology, sometimes the simplest solution is the best solution.

BTW Roku is not a software, it's hardware that allows streaming software to your TV, basically a cheap mans SmartTV.

It's unfortunate that the first post of this topic has useful information, because now the mods can't close it even though it's become a useless cesspool of whining idiots who don't know the first thing about software development and incoherent foreigners who just want to steal games.
not everyone who wants to steal games are foreigners! lol lets try not to turn this "whiny crapfest thread" into a "hate channeling race and pirating debate." we all know some ppl on gbatemp are pirates and some are not. Some of us are white and maybe just maybe a couple of us are purple.

Just out of curiosity, what does it mean in this context for a person to be a pirate?

I can't see any of that relevent to the context, but anyway thanks for taking the time for the attempt to answer ^^.
lmao. i thought you were joking so i gave a joking answer haha. a pirate in this context is someone who would use loadiine or any other usbloader to play wii u games that they did not originally purchase.

"use or reproduce (another's work) for profit without permission, usually in contravention of patent or copyright." How does someone make profit by using Loadiine/usbloader ?

we shouldnt turn this thread into a piracy debate. i personally frequent the many versions of that iso site and dont care one way or the other. I also personally dont see much of a point in console hacking unless youre trying to enable a form of "piracy" whether it be emulators to pirate old games or something else to pirate current games. only homebrew game i ever enjoyed was wagic. the rest were definitely not worth the time and hassle involved in discovering a hack for a console. also i never buy digital games because i cant resell them when i am done and i retardedly bought a used wii u and am now stuck with a disc drive that doesnt work and no intentions of buying eshop titles that i could never sell. blah blah im babbling.

edit:oh and i guess you could consider the "profit" being you playing a game you never paid for?

All that blah blah is irrelevent ^^. Am not debating you if piracy is right or no, nor am justifying or asking you for justification. I only saw you said : "we all know some ppl on gbatemp are pirates and some are not", and I was wondering what you meant by "people who are pirates" here that's all. If we don't even know who is a pirate or who's pirating or what is pirating in this context, how can we debate if it's wrong or right in the first place? :D

I agree we shouldn't flood the thread with this discussion either, but I get a bit annoyed if statements like "some ppl on gbatemp are pirates and some are not" go without clarification. I like keeping terms in their right meaning ;). Sorry if I sounded rude or anything, not my intent.

I cant go into the Store with the TubeHax DNS. =|
I believe i read somewhere that in order to access eshop with tubehax you have to be on a spoofed 5.5 firmware. eshop doesnt work with tubehax on a normal 5.5 console. i believe cyan talked about it in one of these threads.

So skipping 30 pages ahead and not bothering with other responses, but have you looked into Plex yet? It's most likely the best media center out there and they are adding support for tons of devices now. I have the server on my computer and use the Samsung SmartTV app, but they also have an app for Roku and probably Ouya (sp?) too. That would eliminate your wants for this project that will likely never come to fruition. And I'll just say if you don't have a Smart TV yet that will be your next best purchase rather than relying on a third device for your Hulu/Netflix/MediaCenter/whathaveyou.

Actually, it looks like you can run Plex fairly well through the web browser for the WiiU. Of course this rely's on the quality of your video, PC trans-coding, and the quality of your wireless signal in your home to do so - https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/162397/plex-web-good-for-wii-u

Plex is a branch that is based off of Kodi, but is nowhere close to having as much power or features. I already have a standalone device running Kodi to this day (currently Ouya, could use any Android device, no need for a server), but if the WiiU had Kodi, I would not need the extra device, could implement the controller to do a lot of functions, and would be able to launch Wiiu games from inside Kodi.

What makes you think no one would be interested in porting Kodi to the WiiU? Just because the wii wasn't doesn't mean the WiiU wouldn't be. The original xbox that XBMC ran on did everything a wii version would have, and was only abandoned because it could not support 1080p, and since the wii could not support 1080p also, it made no since to do a wii port.

What features more could you want in a media service? Streaming video and music is about as good as it can get from my viewpoint. I see emulator support for Kodi, but why have that when we could have emuNAND, or even better, use emuNAND on your vWii for those titles. Youtube/Netflix add-ons? Use the Wii channels again.

I never said no one will be interested in porting Kodi, I was just giving you another avenue to investigate. On that note though, I do see Kodi uses the client to trans-code video, and with the WiiU clocking in at 1.2Ghz CPU and 2GB RAM I think I'd rather have some more horsepower in that regard.
