That sounds like a good (and safer) idea, go for it.

EDIT: Wait, can you access safe mode to update it? Because I just remembered you can't use system settings.

That's it, I had to update it through L+R+A+UP.

If a 3DS has never been on a firmware, can it still be downgraded to it? Because I think my New 3DS skipped 9.2, seeing as my 3DS XL was 9.8 when I got the New 3DS. That makes me wonder, can I then downgrade the New 3DS to 9.2 or do I have to go with what it came with, which is 9.0.

DON'T USE IT !!!!!! IT IS OLD REALLY DANGEROUS VERSION

use sysupdater in my post :

I'm trying to use the sysupdater you linked but it freezes on step 7. Did this happen to you too? Should I keep trying?

My results:

O3DS 10.1.0-27E to 9.2.0-20E downgrade successful
- Set up sysUpdater and updates folder with .cia files on SD card
- Launched sysUpdater through HomeMenuHax
- Installed 9.2.0 .cia files
- Reboot to black screen
- Removed SD card
- Booted up
- Inserted SD card
- Accessed homebrew launcher via Cubic Ninja cart
- Reset HomeMenuHax
- Copied PastaCFW files to SD
- Successfully booted PastaCFW via HomeMenuHax

After reading the posts on bricked N3DS units, I decided against downgrading until it's more stable. Out of curiosity though, I tried launching sysUpdater just to see if it would even open properly (without the 9.2.0 N3DS .cia update files on the SD card to prevent accidental installation).

N3DS XL test results
- Initially on 10.1.0-27E
- Opened HomeMenuHax Manager via HomeMenuHax
- Deleted HomeMenuHax through manager
- Reboot, updated to 10.3.0-28E via system settings
- Reinstalled NinjHax onto Cubic Ninja cart*
- Reinstalled IronHax through Ninjhax on Cubic Ninja cart*
- Reinstalled HomeMenuHax through IronHax*
- Copied sysUpdater to /3ds/ without the 9.2.0 .cia files
- Attempted to open sysUpdater through HomeMenuHax/IronHax
- Stuck at step 5 or 7
- Reboot, launched LibRetro GPSP through HomeMenuHax
- Allowed it to run idle for about 5 minutes
- Exit to homebrew launcher, launched sysUpdater
- Successful launch, able to access menu for downgrade

So far I'm able to get up to the point where the 3DS is ready to downgrade, but I haven't started any downgrade process in case sysUpdater crashed halfway through and bricked my console. Theoretically it should work but it's not a risk I want to take at the moment.

* In case anyone's wondering about the large number of homebrew entrypoints installed, HomeMenuHax is my main entrypoint with IronHax as a fallback. Cubic Ninja is the last resort if both fail, and is used between multiple consoles as a permanent entrypoint in case the other two are somehow damaged through accidental updating and whatnot.

A noob question (sorry if it was answered): Can i use "9.2.0-20U(Full) to downgrade a 2DS?
Should be, 2DS firmware files are the same as O3DS. Just make sure your console is from the U region.

You should be able to downgrade to 9.2 even if it hadn't been previously installed on your console before, provided that the .cia files you have are all correct. BUT since it's a N3DS, I'd recommend waiting until the process is more reliable. Just in case.

So just to clarify before I finally do this:

The SysUpdater in the first post now links to the safest and latest one right?

What's up with the questionmark in the SHA-1 hash?

N3DS 9.2.0-20E:
MD5: 6dcca8fcbc9a28c82c2a4e5182f3acf8
SHA-1: e7c77bf205137167f1f1befa0c4db9d879a21a2e?

My files' MD5 matches 100%, the SHA-1 matches too but without the questionmark at the end, is this safe to ignore?

Hey! We were talking yesterday, remember?

I did the same thing and it worked (had to try 5 times). Go for it! :D

could you please give detailed info about your hardbrick?

were you using the lastest sysUpdater build? the one that installs SAFEMODE first

if you were, then making SAFEMODE being installed first doesn't changue anything and everyone is still taking the risk of a hardbrick because some glitch happened halfway through

i
Is there a link to this safemode system updater thank you
