So what do I do? Just wait until 'Cleaning up..." goes away?

You have to keep rebooting until you get "Done." which could take... A while. As in it could very well be never. If you're impatient, I'd say wait until a more stable release.

Keep trying. Spam A upon opening the app. If it lets you install, congrats, you beat all the odds. If it doesn't, keep trying.

after like 40 tries and nothing.

i open theme manager on homebrew channel, then i :down+L+R+B and then open fbi and i could install all the legit

Thanks! Exactly the same thing happened to me right now after reading this. People, try force closing theme manager and then opening fbi.

I've successfully booted FBI (based on the descriptions here),and the file list is showing, but the GUI seems unresponsive. Should I do a hard reset and keep trying?

Nope, it was CHMM2 what supposedly helped me reaching the exploit. But I think it's just a matter of luck. It took me more than 50 tries.
